Hey guys,
I'm looking to get a notebook to replace my pc as my work machine, for painting in photoshop and painter. I've been trying to decide whether or not to make the switch to Mac and fork out for a Powerbook, however I've realised they're all widescreen. Same deal seems to go with almost every decent and not too ridiculously priced notebook and even lcd's...
The problem being that my tablet is an Intuos 3 6x8.
Has anyone had any issues with using a non-widescreen tablet with a 'wxga' (etc?) notebook?
I've never had a notebook before so any feedback and advice is very much appreciated! :geekg: Thanks!

You just need to change the Wacom's mapping to "force proportions". You lose sensitivity at the very bottom of the tablet, but it's no big deal.

I have a macbookpro and an intuos 3 A4 and haven't noticed any problems. I haven't even enabled the force proportions.

I use a Powerbook (widescreen) and an intuos3 6x8. I used a 9x12, but 6x8 is more comfortable with a powerbook.... at least for me.
It's just like Elwell said: change the mapping to 'force proportions'. You'll lose approx. 1 inch at the bottom of the tablet, but that's no problem. It works fine.
If you don't do this, you can draw a perfect circle (for instance) on your tablet, but it always appears egg-shaped at your screen.

I use linux, but I suppose this applies as well. I bought my UD-1212 for $50 on ebay, bought a keyspan 28x converter, and now enjoy my 12" x 12" tablet pretty regularly.
*edit*
did a little research on the UD-1212 on OSX, and came up with a useful link:

Changed to mac a few months ago and haven't looked back. Excellent platform, although relatively pricey.

mac all the way, not cause it will do more than another machine, but because it WILL do exactly what its supposed to.
