My old sketch thread is dust in the wind, so I begin anew.

These are basically quickie, digital thumbnail sketches, which I use as the first stage of creating a new piece....

sweet! I dig it. Especially the one of the two guys sitting over the table with the head. Would love to see that one taken to a finish.

This is some very nice work you've got here. I like how you seem to capture the image with a couple of brushstrokes. I really like the imagination you put in the pictures.

Cheers.

Thanks guys! Yes, I know my posting is inconsistent at best, but it's our imperfections that make us human, right? Right!?

Anyways, I have decided to enter into the fracas known as Dominance War III. So here are some sketches of some ideas I have been playing around with:

Fantastic~~<3
Your thumbnail is just an eye candy, it express nice mood; and your character design, gosh, don't know how to put the words.....it seems like you know them as yourself, that's what feel I got from your work anyway. Hope to see some colour work soon.
Brilliant!!!:D 5/5!!

Lovely stuff, Sean. Heaps and heaps of imagination and invention. I like the way you work and work into your pencil pieces, too, without worrying too much about smudges and stray strokes. It gives everything a nice patina.

Five gleaming stars

Keep up the excellent work : )

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I really do appreciate it!

Here are some sketches of real-life stuff. Some crazy guns I saw at the Walters Art Museum, some ceremonial Child Armor, and a Gothic church tower I can see from the 14th floor of my Downtown Baltimore Apartment:

I like you what you've posted here. I like the variety of it. In your last piece with the building, the light source is bothering me. I think that you need to clarify it somewhat, because there are strong highlights in places that I don't see how there could be. Just a suggestion, because I like it a lot, but the light is not unified in its direction I would say.

Keep up the good work.

Great job on the Dominance War thumbnails - you've got some great silhouettes and design motifs going on. Your pencil work in general is really nice. I particularly like those two pages of compositional thumbnails - very impressive.

Looking forward to more,

Ta, Nick.

I like your pencil stuff man!

But there is something disturbing me about the paintings. I think it's the way you use your brushes. (transparency+ size on pressure?) what about trying bigger brushes + transparency on pressure?

Also, I got into SPECTRUM this year! YAAAY! It's my first time in SECTRUM, so I am pretty excited about it.... I have been enetering for a while now, but just never seemed to be able to hit the right notes with the judges, but now I have! I am not sure which piece(s) got in (still waiting for the letter in the mail, but I saw my name on the list of this years artists on the Spectrum website), but I suspect it was this one:

Congratulations! and it's well-deserved.
This Spectrum illustration is really cool, I wonder how you find (or create?) such a rich content of patterns to design your characters, costume and props etc. I found that I am fascinated by them the most.
5/5 again!:D
