Double post, AGAIN. Sorry, CA's running wild tonight...

-_______- such a sad comic, but I really liked it, good composition in it.
I can advise you to work more on your lines in those sketches from life.
Cheers! Update more, and make those updates better and better xD i'll try too, thow my colors and values need more effort.

BlackDelphin: Here you go! Look down. :D I tried taking three of the ps gestures and making them into real people but they really, really sucked. :(

The Whistler: Thanks! Probably one of the most sad stories out there. And to think I left out the part about Calum Ruadh killing a man who kicked the dog!

Kristoff: Thanks. :)

Some more people. The stuff on the portrait orientation pages is from imagination, and a little of the landscape ones too. Sooooo messy! Mostly from magazines though. I really cannot get into sketching in Ps. I have no idea why. :ore: I like sketching in pencil crayon though!!!!!! :D

Great new studies. You are definitely improving with your figure drawings. Every visit to your pages is followed with a pleasant surprise. You gave us a perfect example, how progress is being made by strong will.

BlackDelphin
April 13th, 2010, 08:21 AM
I wouldn't say they suck!

I particularly liked the page before the last one. It has some nice shapes, but some proportions are off, making the shapes less lady like.
Folds n overall clothes are looking fine on the other hand!

Can't wait n see what you'll update next time! :D

A quick sketch. Messy and needs lots of work, but an update none the less.

Well why not see wips like this!!!??? :D:D I really like the sky colour scheme.
So far so good :)
Ooh! Just..hm, perhaps those front legs of the horse look a bit to short for his body.

Have a good one pix.

I really really really liked that warrior here - http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=954278&d=1271110689

Pleeeease do him as a finised piece. The sketch is awesome!!!

great updates, the figures studies of arm legs look really good, but if you want to do the manikin (stick figure), then I would suggest looking at the Loomis ones, since at the moment the first ones don't have any hips and the legs seem a bit short on some of them.
And thank you so much for taking time to do a paintover of my image, you are right about the contrast, I really need to work on that.

i know NSCAD has a pretty awesome Jewelry program ^ ^ haha

Blacky: Thanks! I fixed the legs a bit. I need to do some ref work etc. Meh.... :P

Kristoff: Hmmm..... what sort of setting? I personally think he's a bit bland. I like the gal next to him. she looks like she's going to poison someone or something like that!

jskotte: No prob. Thanks for the tip! :)

Zorcron: Thanks!

More work on this. I've toned down the random colours a bit and now that I've been looking at it for a while, and I think the clouds are unbalancing it a bit. The guy's also blending in too so I think I'm going to have to add some green into this cloak thingie.

Nice update Pixie :)
you´re pencil skills are getting really good, though ofcourse looking back you have improved dramatically overall :).
Just noticed. The horse´s legs are a bit short
Keep em comming !.

Ditto for the short and awkward horse legs.
I really feel a 2nd level here, when I look at your last pencil sketches.

Oooh snap!! :D Lovely figures and sketches you have here pix. Finally an update!! tehehe :teeth:

The wip is looking good too, but i hope you were thinking of changing the composition a bit..
the cloth he is wearing for example makes one go outside the frame.

I may be wrong and i may have done a crappy job, but i just wanted to help.
Sorry if you didn't want any paint over jobs either.
I am trying to understand composition myself, so if i'm wrong, please be harsh n tell me why :)

DK_sketch: Thank you. Legs noted! :)

LtPlissken: Thanks. Legs noted again! :) hehe.... Those legs....

Blacky: I think you're right. I'm not the greatest a composition either. :\ I tried it anyway!

LtPlissken: Do you go out of your way to make me blush. Really? I mean, I'm pretty close to getting sunburn here. You could be a little more conscientious. :P

I'm amused that no one has commented on how she has two of the same feet. I am sometimes very oblivious

Awsome water tab I had to do a double take at first cause i wasn´t sure if i had seen it right :).

The sketches from the other page look good.
Glad to see you finishing your 'Love' peace too. It is good to finish more complex work :)

I am looking forward to see that other wip being finished too.

And from what i see, you're doing fine, but a bit more figure flow and all around figure studies would be great. :D

Cacodaemonia
May 8th, 2010, 04:11 PM
Haha, oh wow, I just noticed the matching feet on that girl! Scary! XD

I'm intrigued by the last image you posted. It looks like a design for some kind of elaborate, fantasy sink fixture. Am I right?

For the horse guy, be careful of the horse's anatomy. It looks to me like its neck is longer than its legs, and the legs seem a bit bow-legged.

Pixie Trick
May 9th, 2010, 09:20 AM
DK_Sketch: Thanks. I don't think I'll finish that wip anytime soon. Toooooo much going on!!!!

knoxie: Very true. :)

Blacky: Thanks.

Cacodaemonia: 'Tis the tap for the tub of Mad King Yves who loved swans too much. :P That horse is going to get major anatomical overhaul when I manage to find spare time.

IDW final. It's not as finished as I would like, but I ran out of time.

These weekly challenges, really do challenge one to get the job done, fast and well. :)
you did a great job not turning the IDW in a envo. I really llike the design and the clean mood those colours give.
I think the perspective is a bit wonky though.

I can see you playing in your 2nd and 3rd drawings :D
Will you work some more on the last one? It's an interesting idea.

See you pix!!
And thank you for the mega comment on my sb, i'm going to read it now.

May 9th, 2010, 07:01 PM
Great update pixie the tub is awsome really gives the impression of someone extremely eccentric:)
the girl with the green background is looking good as, well there is a nice balance with the green eyes that makes her sit well in the image.
keep it up:)

Pixie Trick
May 13th, 2010, 09:06 PM
Blacky: Yeah, I used orthogonal perspective on the tub (parallelism) and then tried it on the floor but it just looked even wonkier. I had gotten too much of the tub done to do any quick fixes so it's stuck the way it is. :(

DK_sketch: Thank you! :)

Just one study for you guys. Gotta scan some pencils later. It took a ridiculous amount of time for how polished it is. Soooo many mistakes from the original, but artistic license let's say! :P Overall I'm happy. Made a nice freckle brush too.

I really like how it turned out pixie! :D
The freckles look really good, and that nose has some confident strokes.

It doesn't seem to match the light source to well as it is..

Really nice face in the last post and also the bathtub further up the page looks really good.

Pixie Trick
May 20th, 2010, 08:21 PM
Blakcy: Thanks. The ref photos had a bit of excessive adjustments in ps so most of the hair is black and you can't tell what's going on. I fixed it a bit.

jskotte: Thanks. :)

Basicly just touchups. A little ps sketch or two, and some fun with love girl from the previous page. And proof that I fixed the foot. In no particular order. :P

Must scan pencils.... but so tired. :(

Arms and legs look good, specially the shading on the arm you shades. Animal stuff is great, so much inspiration from animals. Also the portraits look good, specially the right one, the nose looks a little weird on the left one.

My goodness! So many people. :)

Doom-Breath: Thanks! Ummm... no the tub's not supposed to be tilted. I used a combo of orthogonal (parallelism) and two point perspective and it makes it look a bit wonky.

Exon-Ion: Thank you. :)

Blacky: Yep, real life. The legs are too, except for the small ones at the bottom. Ha, I would post like that more often if I had time! It was a long weekend and I had no homework. :P Now I'm starting exam review and life is getting super busy again.

jskotte: Thanks. He just has a very large and beaky nose.

Nlete: Thanks. :)

Justyana: You're welcome. Thank you.

mike butkus: Thanks! :)

Some heads. I got more and more bored therefore creative as I went along as you can tell. I also did an enviro forest study that I seem to have misplaced. I really wanted crits on it too. Pooo. :( Enviros are killer.

I love the different heads you've drawn, they've got such personality and I like the animals and the outfits you come up with in your pencil drawings. Also, that swan faucet looks amazing.
All I can recommend is it'd be cool to see more observational studies from you. keep it up.

DK_Sketch: Thanks. I'll keep that in mind for sure. :)

MyioDeSopsia: Thank you. :)

jskotte: Ya, some of them are pretty creepy in some ways. The second from the left on the bottom row is the one that especially strikes me as funky, as well as the stunned looking guy. The girl on the far left bottom was supposed to be a guy too, hence the haircut. :P

Blacky: hehehe... At this very moment I should be studying! ...but I'm not. :anime: Thank you for the support. :)

LtPlissken: Don't worry about it! Everyone gets busy. That one is one of my faves too. :)

Some very quick photostudies. All three together took about 1h -1h15 for an idea of time frame. Updates are going to be getting fewer and farther between for a little bit now. As mentioned..... the dreaded exams are coming up. :(

Yor: Thanks. :)

LtPlissken: Thanks weird. I personally dislike it the most out of the three. However, the reference was very pretty so maybe a bit of that showed through. :\

DkSketch: Two votes for that one?! Alrighie then. :P

DefiledVisions: Thank you! I like him too.

MyieoDeSopsia: Oh dear.... blushing. Thank you!

BlackDelphin. Vote #3!?!?!?! The first was done from a photo on a cloudy day so the light was very diffused. I just like the guy's hair! :P

iven: Thanks!

Janos: I unfortunately had exams. They suck. I can't take credit for the comp. of the last- photoref figured it out for me. :D

Well, with exams over this morning, and all my artwork marked from school I was able to bring home the thing's I'd done over the semester. A lot of it is junk, but I decided to show some of the slightly better stuff even though it's at least one-two months old at the earliest. I haven't had a chance to sit down a draw for longer than 10 minutes a day for the last two weeks so I feel rusty. :( On the other hand, I learned how to make linoleum stamps which is fun!

1006417

1006420

Dragon-boy here wasn't supposed to be so pink, but the interference paint turned out that way.

1006426

My second oil painting ever!!!!! I don't think it's toooooo bad! :D The closeup is more true to life. I painted this from a black and white printout of an amazing old sketch so the colours are a bit questionable. (And I added the plant if you couldn't guess :P)

1006432

1006421

Also, one of my projects for the summer is to make myself some 19c inspired clothing. Probably going to be a jacket (brass buttons!!!!!!!). I'm learning how to make my own patterns and stuff and it's kinda makes my brain hurt, but it's fun in its own way. I did a bunch of sketching for that (an example ->)

Pretty pretty pink dragonhead and lovely dresses!!! I especially love the dress with all the ribbons downwards the skirt part.
Looking through what you've posted recently (I haven't been here for a while, sorry!), I really like your latest pencil studies. They're good! And the necklace in post #256... Gosh, I want it.
I think you are very good with stylish clothing. Embrace that!

Nice oil painting too.

MyioDeSopsia

The shininess on the dragon's scales looks really cool, brilliant how that came out. Nice Darwin too the skintones are great. I like the clothes too. Making a coat, hmmm that's not a bad idea. I'd never be able to actually make a coat, but this makes me want to sketch some.

Pixie Trick
June 27th, 2010, 05:14 PM
Mokinzi: Thank you! :) That dress sketch is based off of an illustration from Peterson's magazine from 1960 or 1965. It was white with black ribbon around the neck and for the bows.

BlackDelphin: Very, pink! :D I really liked using oils, but I don't own any myself. I used the school's paints. Unfortunately I live enough in the boondocks that art stores are a good distance away, and also quite expensive. If I find some for a decent price though, I'm getting some for sure!!!!!!!

MiyoDeSopsia: Hehehe... yes it is very pink! I used that interference paint I've mentioned before. It's supposed to shimmer between a metallic leaf green and a metallic pink. It seems to have gotten stuck at pink. :P You never know until you try to make something. Sewing from a pattern isn't that hard at all if you get easier patterns- you find out your measurements, cut out the pattern, and match up the sides. What I'm really worried about it how to line a coat. I've no idea at all how to do that.

Just thought I'd do some advertising for Teen Challenge to start things off. :) T.C. #100 is coming up and there's going to be a special round of either Last Teen Standing or Teem Teen Challenge!!!! Check it out!

Sooo... an "artsy" watercolour and pen sketch, and Teen Challenge of the week- topic Cliche. I chose "girl is all alone in the house and hears a noise in the basement so she goes to check it out." I didn't mean for it to turn out this way, but the girl ended up looking a bit like me in a cartoony way. Oh, and another animated gif for you guys 'cause you seemed to like the other one!

Ha! Give me some time and that might just happen!

I'm working on getting a decent portfolio made up so I'm going back and re-touching some images as well as hopefully making a couple. Here's the cave of rolls of fat in a wip stage (+ closeup). I really would like crits and advice on it. Should I just ditch the dragon-creature and go for a nice-ish enviro, or keep at it? And a little sketch based on the queen from snow white holding up the pig's heart in victory.

Very nice portrait :) Looks realistic. Only thing I miss is a sort of texture, especially on the hair. A smaller brush perhaps, or a slight remix in PS would do the trick :) Also, the different aspects of the picture sort of, mold together. The colouring is nice, but I would consider using some sort of contrast element between the main figures. :)

The cave creature looks very nice; I love the use of purple and blue dots in contrast with the brown colours. If I were to comment anything, it would be that the creature merges a bit with the background. Certainly you could make a monochrome illustration, but I think I would have made slightly bigger contrasts between the creature and the cave wall. :)

Nevertheless
Well done! :D

Wow, I am really impressed. I'm glad you're keeping the dragon in there, and that close up is beautiful. I like the values on the dragons legs, and it might look cool if you highlighted more on his head and neck where the light shines down-- maybe to give it the same quality as the highlighted rocks in the closeup. Nice use of different colors in the rocks too.
In the portrait, my favorite part is the light on your hair and the glimpse of green leaves out the window. brilliant stuff.

The Violinist: Thank you for the crits! I've done some work on the sp, but it's not noticeable enough to bother posting. (Some bg hue shifting and texturing). There's some updates in the cave critter too which I hope help it a bit. :)

Artpole: What in particular about the head do you think is off? I've flipped it a couple of times and nothing jumps out at me.

Myio: Thanks! I've just cut off 9 inches of hair and the sp was a bit of a celebration of that. :)

Went to another airshow, got overheated and sat in the shade and drew people. It doesn't look amazing but I think I learned quite a bit. (Look at overall shape more, not bodyparts!!!) I also found that if you have a pencil sharpener with a separate lid and container part, you can fill the container with water and use it for water colours! (<- no duh. :P) Haha... not really that brilliant. :D Some pics of the coat mockup. It's about 6 inches high. I ended up having to make my own pattern because all of the ones I could find and made paper mock-ups of from that period had huge bustle covers. I am so glad we don't have to wear bum pads, petticoats and hoops anymore.

Some very strong work here, I'm really impressed on you can handle so many different mediums - is there anything you can't do? :D

Sketches and speedpaints are looking very solid. If there is one thing I would critique is that you can push your vales a bit more, especially with your environments. Try adding some lighter values in the background to help create a sense of depth - regardless if you're using reference or not.

I remember that cave environment you were working on around the time I visited your SB and the new version looks awesome! The darker values make it feel more like a cave. My crit is the creature looks kind of like it's part of the environment and blends in since it is similar to the rocks. At first I didn't noticed the creatures body other than the head, then I noticed it later. I'm not sure if you're going for a mysterious look and want it to blend in (if you are then that's cool), but if you want the creature to stand out more then you might want to change the texture and hue so it doesn't look as much like the rocks. By the way, great sketches from life!

cgaddict: Haha... ummm... I don't like carving any material and I hate knitting? It's more a matter of what do I not like than what I'm good at. :) Thanks for the tip. It's been so humid here so you see a white fog over everything that's 0.5k away or further which really underlines what you said. :P

I'm not happy with either of these. A little sketchie in which the pillars are going to have a colour change and I think I need to extend the canvas to the left among more generally issues. (Must learn enviros..... and everything else) The second was for teen challenge topic crown (oh lovely puns... :) ) but I think it's going down the gutter very rapidly. I don't know enough to pull this on off sadly. Also, I"m not being careful enough and it shows very badly.

I love the focal point, the part of the water reflecting the colum,n and the light on the hills in the background of your wip. Is it from imagination? Not sure if it's something you want to try, but if you desaturate the grass in the background much more than in the foreground you might get more depth out of the piece.
Nice variety of sketches, I see you're really getting those planes down.

Some more sutff. Some one has to think of a new word for stuff other than stuff because I use it way to often. :) Back to the subject. I'm out of practice with my drawing, and I'm taking this as an opportunity to rethink how I draw. I'm trying to get more fluidity into there, as well as the always applicable accuracy.

Warmups.

1031134

Went on a sketch/bike ride combo and had some fun. There was this older mare and her yearling colt with her so I drew them! The colt spent most of it's time sleeping and looking dead. :) So cute! Also, I was very smart, and while changing positions, I decided to stick my pencil behind my ear while I held onto things. There is now a very nice charcoal pencil in the ditch of some rural Ontario road, never to be seen again after fifteen minutes of searching.

The page to the top right was done with the dropped pencil and shows how tools really do matter. The other pencil just wouldn't give me the right side of pencil shading.

1031133

Some of you guys probably remember this thingie from a while ago. I made frames for a bunch of my acrylics and this is what ended up going on with this one. Let me tell you, mirrors tell you every single thing you've done wrong with a face. It was put in a local gallery for my class' show, and got a lot of attention however. I think I may try something like this again.

sweet sketches, your horse drawings are way better then mine, last time I went to a farm and tried to draw some horses from life I discovered how hard it is! but it seems you got the hang of the muscles and all.

The horses look nice loose and accurate. I agree with Danny K about your lines. I'm thinking that the dead-looking colt is in the upper left of your horse drawings, haha I like that one. :)

I agree, mirrors are an honest critic for faces. And for a lot of things too I think. Like if you want to maintain balance in a drawing but you've always favor a certain side, using a mirror--or flipping the canvas horizontal on the computer-- helps a lot to prevent/fix the effect.

Draw more!

Pixie Trick

Danny K : Ya, animals are tricky to draw. :) The move around and twitch. You really have to work on not getting caught up in the details and getting the big shape down.

jskotte: Thanks!

Myio: Haha... yep, that's it. It would roll onto it's front for a couple of seconds, and then fall of over again. :) Any of the horse pics that are on the ground is that one.

Cool work! ...purdy :P Really liking the owls, beautiful creatures. In that illustration though I feel the owl is more rendered than the main character. I think distinguishing her from the background would make her more interesting. As it is now she sort of blends with it, as where the owl isn't.

Ok, so I took sky cape woman over to the crit area of the forums and got some really great feedback! :) A lot of people thought she was floating (which was not my intention), so I extended the canvas and gave her some legs, which I think it helps the whole image compositionally and otherwise. I'm going to be adding some decorations to her parka (owls or polar bear leather cutouts? My mom has one with sled dogs running around the hem), maybe adding some more orange tones, as well as pushing the values on her body more. I moved the side slit down to a more realistic spot, moved the arms a bit, shrunk and moved her head, and shifted her whole body to the right. Phew!!!!!

Pixie Trick

I have a terrible time starting an image with correct contrast because I get so focused on it I loose sense of proper contrast which leads to rather desaturated images. This time I was aiming for the scattered light from an overcast snowy day which didn't help at all because I overdid it a bit. It's really irritating. :( It also leads to a bunch of Photoshop tweaking at the end.

Mmm.. Chow image, it feels a bit muddy sorry to say. You could try whacking up the values on the blue flamey she's putting in that guy's mouth. BlackDelphin (what happened to the Artpole?) : Thank you my dear! Heads have been fixed. They weren't just flat, they had terrible construction.

jskotte: Thanks for the advice. :)

Miyo: Thank you. :) And aye aye sir! *snaps off a salute*.

Kungfoowiz: Haha!!! Some of them had the cutest expressions in the photos, and some looks really scary. The entire image has low saturation and you'll notice the blue flamey thingie has a very high saturation to the rest. I think bumping it up would make it look too unnatural in the setting in this case.

8bit: Life, life, life all the way. Photos are great when you can't get to what you need to study such as things in motion or finding out what the heck a ring tallied lemur looks like, or some particular lighting situation, but for improving your drawing skills, life is the way to go. I think Ewell said you have to train your brain into becoming a 3D modeling program instead of a camera. Completely 100% true.

Holy shizzimSdhfgfdijsbvfd nice post. So, the drawings with the blue muscles showing their movements, what did you study those from, they seem like a really great way to study the muscles? I want to copy you ¬_¬
The figure in the lower left hand corner, niiiice values, and I like how you've separated the light and shadow on some of the legs. I'm a fan of the horse gestures too. You probably already know this, but doing some fast gesturey yet anatomical drawings might complement your studies on anatomy. Gesturey yet anatomical...hmm, I mean gesture drawings of the skeleton.

In post 378, I don't know how you went about them, but those sketches look pretty good. I see some similar ones in your post 191. Loose and not liny. I like that shadow and light on the grass, and on the little kid's face looks especially well done.

Experiment more with just using a hard brush to paint an image. Then don't soften edges until you've laid down all the color. I don't think this is a good technique I am recommending but, it might be a worthy experiment just to see what happens next time you want to experiment. I feel your edges are sometimes too too soft on your backgrounds of your paintings.

Also....recently, some popular folks took off from CA, and the reasoning was that CA has deviated far from its original intent to serve users who want to learn to make art. It was made clear point that CA now seems to be about ad revenue and money making. You've been around here a lot longer than I have and seem (from your stats) to have contributed a great a great lot and have improved your own art a lot during the time (whether or not it is a result of being here, I don't know). I was wondering if you think that CA has seen better days and that it's not what it used to be.... I'm just looking for a short answer, as I'm curious what you think....

Sorry for the huge gap between posts. :( This is going to be the norm now I think. School is taking up a lot of time. On the good side I do get a couple of drawing assignments a week, so I have enforced drawing time. :)

This week's assignments to draw your breakfast so here's some of the better ones (drawn at 7 or 8am... I'm not awake :P). So... um... no updates for about three months -> :ilaekae: I need one of these in real life to yell at me.

Grand! I love the elk-headed gentleman and the balloon snake :D .

And those life drawings from the smaller sketchbook are quite lovely as well. There's something sweet about the lines.

I think you could do more portrait studies to learn the proportions of the face, but don't we all?

Great stuff, I really enjoy your imagination :)

Thanks for the crit

Absolutely love the way you have been keeping you're lines loose and confident but thought out well enough they dont seem too general, I think the NGO Animals are looking a little stiff i dont know how large you were working ? I think especially when working off of photos it can be easy to stiffen up and get precious with those lines especially when small, but you definatly have confidence in your lines. I Think all it would take is to be mindfull of that even when you are working small to keep the energy.

I am super interested in that sculpture/design thing on the last page, made with paper i guess ? looks wicked

Would love to see some more new paintings it can be so hard with classes though i know, I would love to see some more acrylics, looks like you're getting a lot more confident with digi. :)

KEEP UP THE GOOD FIGHT!

Hope to see more soon !!!!!

strangedawn: Thanks. :)

Kristoff: Thank you! That old man was a result of a long, philisophical and overly academic lecture. As you can tell it keeps me riveted to the edge of my seat. :P

strangedawn: Thanks! The matte painting type stuff is fun but not particularly challenging to me so I get bored with it pretty fast.

LtPlissken: Yep, I'm back more or less. :)

who: Hey, no problem! Definitely try drawing people at libraries or wherever. The tricky bit is to draw a person without setting of their "someone is watching me" radar and making them move. :P

Getting back into the swing of things slowly. My linework has gone down the crapper but I think I'm slowly getting it back. The small sb pages are people drawings at a hospital cafeteria (some of whom got unicornified). The big sb pages are family members generally. The cows were reffed from the Atals of Animal Anatomy for Artists then I tried a few from memory. And a ps sketch that didn't get far from a TC ages ago.

If you're in the Ottawa area, tomorrow is the day of a CA sketch meetup (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=225789). COME!!!

I think your drawing has improved a lot in the last few pages and posts. I definitely like the 3d bike pavilion composites, The matt painting animation was pretty cool too. One thing that may help it that photoshop has a match color tool that helps a lot with composites, think its under edit or adjustments.

I think your rendering needs the most work at the moment. keep it up.

Pixie Trick

surfandsnow: Oh neat, thanks for pointing out the match colour thingie! That will definitely come in useful. And yeah, you're right about the rendering.

So, I met hunchback (http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=136203), AndrewSonea (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=176480&page=9999) and Trisquel (http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=203449) over the weekend which was super awesome. We ended up spending the first half of the afternoon drawing dinosaurs and the second half wandering and drawing prehistoric mammals. The mammals were the sorts of critters that you would look at and say "I think you should reference more existing animal anatomy when you design that thing". Anyway, I think I might have started Andrew into a marker addiction and he made me realize how pathetic my pencil rendering is.

Went out to the library again with the lovely jje1000 and drew the old people that seem to be the majority of customers there. Then we got bored and gave each other topics (I got hypno-toad and devilishly dainty). Then drew old peeps again. And quite possibly the most boring, cliche and muddy landscape ever (it used to have a city where the burning teddy is, and seriously, if there's one tree, generally there's more), then I added the burning teddy which made me happier. :D ... and another head.

Awesome sketchbook!

You're on the right track from what I see. There is good range in your sketchbook, from figure drawing to animals, values, digital and traditional!
My favorite part would be the life drawings (especially #422). A suggestion would be to spend a bit more time on defining shapes, like what you did with the sandals in that post. That would definitely make you progress faster.

Keep up the good work :D

I somehow managed to get a job in New York for a few months. Sadly I didn't draw much simply because I didn't have much time, but I tried to pull out the sb on the subway once or twice. People can be pretty weird if they think you're drawing them- I had a few people literally move to the other end of the car to make sure I didn't. I've got a new arch portfolio put together which you can get to at the link in my sig if for whatever reason you're vaguely interested. Anyway, here's a few little bits from the sb- the girl with bot is vaguely inspired by the current chow, the other PS thing a wip which, once again, who knows how far it will get. I obviously have no idea how to draw leaves.. x|

The girl looks pretty comfortable with heights, judging from how her left arm is rested and by her smile. I don't know about the cat though, does not look very friendly to me. For anatomy, the left leg seem extend too far out of the suggested pelvis location. Although It seems that by swapping how the legs are situated will give a very relaxed look overall. It's got the right feel for sure, with the lighting and composition.

Good work girl on getting stuff DONE, and welcome back to the real world (that is concept art!) and not one that involves cubicles.
