I'm new here too with only 1 wip picture and the comments aren't coming either.
So I have learned that I have to draw something dramatic that moves something in people. My pics means something to me but doesn't mean too much to others. I think you have to tell something with your pic. And no comments means that there is nothing horribly wrong with the pic. :) The forum is great for learning even people don't crit the work.

Or people are just lazy. :p ;)

C'mon folks, ever thought of giving comments yourself first? One of you has four, the other eleven posts at the time I'm writing this. No one knows you, no one knows whether you will disappear within no time. So, sit back, relax, give crits and comments and by and by your works will be reviewed, too.

im trying to follow the tut's on this site http://www.gorblimey.com i think the result its quite good...

Just putting online my Portfolio, wish to have critics and ideas..Thanks

How about asking specific questions?

I didn't see anything special in your images. There are too many posts to reply to all of them.
If people did reply and had nothing to say that wouldn't be satisfying for you either.

Jester is right.
And if you want to know where you stand watch the threads that get replies.

And no comments means that there is nothing horribly wrong with the pic.Or that people just can't tell what exactly is wrong.
And somebody told me that commenting on my images wouldn't make sense.
That was true back then. I wouldn't have been able to apply suggestions to my images.

Post to view count is almost always 1:10 ratio. Typing a response if nothing really out of whack is seen is hard. Often times I stop myself from posting on really good works, because people ask for crits and I want to step away from spamming "OMG so good." 100 times.

This is a WIP section too, not a "discuss why nobody posted on my wip" section. The Lounge would be more appropriate ;)

Hey guys,
I know I've got more than 11 posts to my name and yet my artworks also seem to go largely unnoticed. While this was, at first, a bit of a blow to my ego I've taken some time to think about it from everyone else's perspective and here are my thoughts- hopefully they're helpful.
(I'll number them but in no particular order of significance)

1. The social rules of reality apply here in this community also- you wouldn't expect to pop your head in at a new workplace or at a cafe where you know nobody and suddenly expect them all to pay attention to you. That is, unless you have something they're interested in. First time posts rarely get any attention unless they're impressive. This seems to have exceptions as I've seen work that was technically not great get some helpful and encouraging response.

2. Look at the daily artists and other regulars and see how many constructive crits they get. Of course they're great artists so their work doesn't (maybe) have as much to criticise...but I think if you take away all the obligatry flattery you will see that they too probably only get a handful of criticisms. If my work was awesome I'd probably get heaps of responses and more people would be inspired to help in a critical sense.

3. People don't know you (or me probably) an introduction in the Lounge forum that gives people an idea of you as a person, other than just a nifty chat name might help them identify with you more and thus become more interested in your work.

4. People are more likely to help those that they have seen develop. The daily sketch group is probably a good way to get to know people and also to get work up on the forum reglarly, thus people may become more interested in your development. Also the sketchbook thingy where people post up pges of their sketchbook on a regular basis.

5. Post your thoughts on other people's stuff as often as you can. I can't get upset about people not posting responses to my work when I look at maybe 20 pictures and leave *maybe* 1 response. I also try now to post responses to new people and those who haven't had any responses to try and encourage them- Android, Bengal, Sparth and El Coro know they're awesome (or at least they know people believe they are)- maybe it would be more helpful to others to encourage them or give them crits.

Ummm...that's all I've got for now...sorry it was long, hope it was helpful. There are still things here that I haven't gotten around to doing, which is probably partly why I rarely get responses but I suppose you only get out what you put in and all that...

Thanks

I'm fairly new here also. I got a few posts on my work when it went up, and I thank you all for that. hmmmm, I think I might have scared you off by my long winded replies. Hee hee. Anyway I think people have to realize the artists are busy with their normal lives. I know I am. Real busy! I try to come on in the evening or morning, but am neglecting other things to do so. Like a husband, house and home, other art projects, etc. Most of the time I'm on the run too much to do any posting, other times I don't feel qualified to do so and leave it for better artists. Also there is an awful lot of art on this concept. It takes a good while to get around, and I don't know about anybody else, but I'm still trying to figure out where everything is here. I have noticed that if you request help, people will usually try to give you some suggestions. I say hang in there and don't give up to soon!
