I am running a project called vital state, an open source FPS / RPG / Simulation game. We are currently recruiting concept artists.

This project is open source, and we currently have around 20 developers from around the world, all of whom are working for free (this can change). We have been in development for 16 months developing our game design document, and we belive its time to hit the sketch books.

To give you a little taste, vital state revolves around a tightly designed story line "Trapped in a world like this one, you fight to discover the true state of reality. That is, the Vital State...". Vital State is working around a revolutionary gaming system, you could look at it like a mix between Grand Theft Auto , Deus Ex, and the Sims.

You can find more information about vital state here http://www.vitalstate.co.uk/about.php?PHPSESSID=c04db14a6da1eaafbb24176451b2dd c6

Even though this is not a paid job, this would be great opportunity for someone who is keen on breaking into the industry.

Thanks,

grey

Hello,

My name is Jonathan. I am currently doing contract work for a small startup game development company called White Knuckle Games in Atlanta, Ga. I happened to run across your job posting. I am very interested in the concept art positions that you are offering. I have currently been working with the art director for White Knuckle Games, and was contracted to assist him in creating the art style and all the current
art assets for a third person cyberpunk action-rpg in
development for the PC. This includes producing some of the conceptual art, environmental design, and elements of the level design. I was
responsible for modeling and texturing for the game, which is done using 3DS Max 5 and Photoshop (although I am experienced in many other programs).

My url is:

Please go there if you'd like to see some samples of
my work and my resume.
Thanks for your time,

Out of curiousity, where are you guys located? You wouldn't happen to be in London by any chance? I'm looking for a project to work on to build a portfolio, and the current project i am working on is falling apart much to my annoyance (conflicts between the writers). So if you guys happened to be reletively local that could be a bonus, although of course, there's always the internet....

Sorry for the delay in repliying, I kind of forgot about this forums and since I didnt get any email notification of replies I wasnt aware that people where using this thread.

The post is almost closed so if anybody is still interested in this post can they please email me (krish@vitalstate.co.uk) with a small portfolio.

Also I just wanted to remind everyone that this is an opensource project and that all our developers are as of now working on a voluntary basis.

We are in Scotland, the thing is all of our developers are from all corners of the world, and we work through the internet.

Dudes, the original post was in 2003. If the game is not finished, it will never be. What is up with necro posting in the JOB section?
