Hello Forum members,

I'm very new here, I've come for help.

When I paint in photoshop and save the file as a jpeg, I lose color and value. Does anyone else have this problem or know the solution?

I'm working in RGB, 8bit, Adobe 1998 settings. I've tried other color profile settings and it's the same problem I can save as png just fine and tiff, but with jpg I'm losing.

I thank you in advance.

Hi Tristan! Thank you. I'm going to go read up and try it. One question jumping up presently is why does it do it only with jpeg?

Are you using "Save For the Web" or just "save as" and selecting jpeg? Save for Web will strip out the color management info if you don't ask it not to.

Ahh... I see. So I made adjustments based on the threads you brought forward and the problem is resolved.

What I did was go to View>Proof Settup and change it from the working setting to Monitor RGB. Instantly it looked the upsetting way it does when saved as jpeg. Then I went and calibrated my monitor's gamma. Did a test, and it looks the same when saved as jpeg as when working. Hallelujah! Tomorrow in the daylight I'll recalibrate and the situation is now gold!

Thank you Tristan! What a relief!
