Damn! You have discouraged me. I thought I was doing well getting use to my new Wacom and painter, but now I just dont know. I cant seem to get good flowing lines. I really like your sketches...you are doing great!

U should see me smiling. Thanks for all the input, it really helps. :D
Van: I´m no expert in the painter-area, but here's how I did these.
I use the "pen - fine point" for all outlines and "Digital water color - new simple water" on a new gel-layer for coloring.
But then again, I'm no vet in the area. Just keep experimenting.

Thanks for the input..and since you are offering advice I will ask some questions. :p
About buildup. I really like the style of buildup you use on your line work. How do you achieve that quality in painter? Are you changing brush sizes much or are you just scribbling it out?
The drawing of the girl is fantastic and it gets better every time I look at it. Unfortunately for me, right now, I am having a bit of a slump. I am hoping for a breakthrough around the corner though. That always happens with slumps.

When I do my sketches I usually have a 800 x 600 pixels @ 300dpi. The "pen - finepoint" at size 5-7. I usually never change the size of it unless I have to cover a large area with color.
Then I just alternate with black and white creating the outlines and shadows. White sorta gets to be an erasertool.
Then I use the digital water color, size 20 something on the new gel-layer and just brush away. Since it picks up colors I just add some dots of the colors I want in the pic and hammer the Alt-key while drawing.
Hope I helped in some way.. :)

It absolutely helps.
How did you get the fine lines? Just light touch on the pen?

A firm and steady hand is what I use :)

One more and I will stop grilling you. :) Do you tend to work with fast strokes or slow?
