I love this character! I was intrigued when I saw your thread in the WIP forum, and I'm glad to see it finished. The colors are nicely eerie, the anatomy of an old humanoid raven is great, and the costume is excellent. My only crit, and it's mostly subjective opinion, is that the darks could have one more deeper value. The I see the inside of the sleeve and the underside of the tail feathers as a little flat as a result.
do you have more images similar to this?

Great work Peter! Love the concept, style, rendering, and color. The only critique I have is the anatomy of the hands looks a little akward to me. But it also seems to work because it's a stylized character.

I took a look at your website and what I liked the most of a lot of very good paintings and drawings were the gouache landscapes from california. The colors and values were really really good, loose and full of energy. Have you considered starting a concept piece with gouache and then scanning it in and developing it further digitally?

i think you should darken it and add to the contrast a bit. it could be my monitor ..

killing.people-it may be a monitor difference. I was looking at it on someone else's monitor (he uses a Mac) yesterday and all the darks were really light.
Ant4d-Tallinn has the coolest old town!
Kari(aka brainplug)-Thanks, yeah those hands are a little odd.
bwkeough-Hard to say if I have any others similiar to this, take a look at my website and tell me (www.petersakievich.com). I actually haven't thought of doing a paintover of one of my little gouaches, something to think about, eh?

Inspired, but not copied or kept too similar. I like it. He seems a little shamanistic... did you intend that?

jarvis2824-I picked up that new book on the Dark Crystal, which is just full of Froud's fabulous drawings. I was thinking about it one day and drew the head pretty much as you see it in the image and then decided to give it a body and play with the fabric textures from the film, as I was working on it one of my friends suggested that I draw it more as a bird. And then the rest of the image sort of put itself together. As for being shamanistic...you decide
