How deliberate was the choice of MBs logo?

Im sure this has been done to death, but I couldnt find anything by searching so ...
I mean, Massive Black is an awesome name by itself, but then you go and add that logo and it all becomes something totally different.... and very dirty. Now dont get me wrong, I love the Massive Black... rooster, but can anyone enlighten me as to what made MB chose that logo? :)

What’s With the Name?

Jason Manley: We all made a list of hundreds of potential names and the guys just could not agree when it came down to it. We discussed it back and forth and narrowed it down to two potential names: Pixeluffagus and Massive Force. It did not take long for us to realize these were horrendous choices. No one could decide on the right name. One of the guys cracked a joke. He said it should be Massive Black with a rooster logo and the tagline “serving all your biggest needs” --a name few would forget. We mocked up some cards in jest. Within an hour we had a surprise unanimous decision. After months of discussion about potential “Digital this,” Pixel that,””Imaginary this” and “Dynamic that,” we had the name that would stick.

In the end, we reasoned that Massive Black is the primordial void from which great ideas are pulled.


Nevertheless, it's a great name and cool logo that works greatly because of how easy is remember and identify it :)

Great name, and great idea from the start. Thanks for the explanation Maestro! And Justin, great answer there too. I just thought it was a bit too simple to make the cock connection without it being intended from the start (even though it was a joke :)) Like someone in this post (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?p=1010810&mode=linear&highlight=cock#post1010810)mentioned: I would proudly wear that Massive Black Cock on my chest! :D
