It's always stared me right in the face, but I never saw it. It's renowned all across the internet for it's massive knowledge base, with it's highly detailed articles and it's ability to remained mostly unbiased in said articles, but it had never occurred to me to look here before for artistic anatomy reference until recently.

The Wikipedia article regarding muscles of the human body is simply amazing. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_muscles_of_the_human_body#Muscles_of_head_ and_neck:_the_neck)

It gives detailed illustrations of not only the muscles, but the bones, nerves, and veins, insertion points, functions, and opposing muscle groups.

The wikipedia has proved itself an invaluable resource yet again!

I hope this helps people!

I can only imagine how grotesque early anatomy studies must have been.

cool link, a lot of great info, but you need to weed through the massive amount of medical anatomy to find what is useful for studying artistic anatomy.

I never really learned by looking at single muscles but it could be good for finding stuff. Thanks.

Jim - Yeah, there are a lot of links and images are are purely medical, but there are still a lot more describing what we as artists need to know, thinks I. Hope it helps you.

Hope everyone else finds something useful by it too, lots of great illustrations even if they are redundant as Jim pointed out with all the same muscle groups being shown over again just highlighting different specific muscles.

well if i would go for beeing a surgeon it might work. but i would nobody suggest this link to learn from. also make sure before you go doing anatomy , get first the proportions of the human figure down , know about masses and how a fugure moves in the space.
starting with anatomy first before knowing the upper things i´ve listed would be very misleading on the way knowing the human figure as a whole.
