These are some nice renderings. I like the first guy the best cuz, he looks peaceful, and nice, but looks like he can snap at any second. Kinda like the newest alien in alien resurrection.
Who else is on this project? Need any help?

Incredibly good poses. Nice emotion, nice feel to them with little action. The blending and brushstrokes were handled really well here. I'm really seeing a lot more textute in your paintings davi.

I love the first, the textures and expression are powerful.
Im guessing this mod will have to do with zombies/dead?

if i'm not mistaken, i may have seen some inside cg posts with the same subject material for a mod, but it was an unreal2 mod. the artist could have moved to half life 2. I'd love to see some zombie mods for half-life but it won't be the only one, hehehehe...

a Mod is a modification of an existing game. The developer leaves the code base open for the gaming community to modify and enhance. Many times they just change some art assets, or they do a full conversion.
Prime examples : TFC and Counterstrike for Halflife. Couple o' guys modifying the gameplay to then become friggin' gaming legends in their own rights.
Except for the lameass cheating...but I digress. Make sense now Jon?

thanks guys,
lung, Jason told me a few days ago that i needed to work on combining sharp edges with soft areas. He said i had a problem making overly sharp images and overly soft images. So lately i've been trying harder to combine them more and these are the results.

Wow Davi you guys really working on a mod? I read somewhere that you have to take their workshop to get the DEV kit? Did you? Do you have the tools already?
Nice drawings! The first one is a real testament to your progress I think. You're getting a lot more feeling to come across with your coloring. Nice, simple zombie designs too. Should be a killer MOD - would love to see more dude.

they are releasing a book on how to mod for half life 2.
and sdk and blah blah
it will be just the same as half life 1 but more user friendly i believe.

I haven't visited in over a year so I have a comment on your growth as an artist; all your figure work still contains the same paradigm. Same slumped over poses, blocky feet and hands, and muddy details. Can you see this? Is it your "style"? Maybe you should take some figure drawing classes and bust out of your comfort zone. I hope you take this as constructive. Peace.

It's great that a mod posts...even better that the work is good

davi, they rock. kinda have a sculpted look to them. they look set to take full advantage of normal maps in HL2. :)
as for the paintings, (and this is my only crit) the white background works, but the edges give it too much 'pop'.
davi
September 11th, 2003, 11:19 PM
yeah i should probably add a different valued background
here is another...
