I have been working on this model for a while...
There's been some adjestments from the original concept but, I'm satisfied with final result.

I can tell that no matter how much I'll earn when I get a job, I wont be able to afford one of thoose....
for some reason it reminds me more of an Alfa Romeo or TWR. especially the front grill. it has a muscular/vulgar look to it that doesn't really fit the Merc brand, but it is really cool!

It has a jaguar look but nice design...
It has to be on the 3D concepts section though...

This is a really good model in its own right, but I do agree with the first post, my crits have to do with it fitting in Mercedes' line. The grill shape's been covered, and the muscular area in the front reminds me of Jaguar. I think if you alter the shape of the grill and smooth out the front end it'll look more mercedes. One more thing, most sports cars have aggressive camber settings (where the top of the wheel is angled slightly inwards), if you add details like that it'll look less like a sculpture and more like a real car.

Hey that's nice, very retro (I'm always down with retro)
It's nice to see some automotive design on this site.

I think the antenae would look better off to the side and not in the middle.

from a humanfactors standpoint, I donno how usable the side rearview mirrors are.. you'd have to crane your head to see 'em it seems. and unless the driver and passenger sit snuggled up together you've got some pretty mean blindspots at the edge of the windshield.

It has to be on the 3D concepts section though...
nobody said this section was 2d only.
It's "Finished" as far as I'm concerned.. sometimes designs are better explored in 3d.

Looks sweet. The grille has a jag/prowler look to it but the profile definitely smacks of BMW. I wouldn't worry too much about rear view mirrors; with a car like that there won't be anything coming up behind you :)

Just wondering, are those rims stock or do you have to special-order 'em?

First of all, this is a very nice rendering. The back end is really killing me. I have nothing against the retro look, but...

... you have an old skool hotrod front end with a supercar back end... I don't think it flows at all. And it doesn't look very aerodynamic either- more front heavy if anything. If you simplify the shapes and make the surfaces less "bubbly" on the front end, it'd flow much more nicely.

SHould be in the 3d section.

And Sammy, no it does not say it anywhere but... it is the way it is donw.

This forum is not like cgtalk that focuses heavily on 3d, this focueses more on 2d arts.

And i also think the model could be improved a lot.

Coming from the standpoint of a car person, the car has an excellent profile, but the aerodynamics are a little bit off in the front assuming that the front grill does end up being changed and made smoother - a more dramatic angle back toward the windshield would be more aerodynamically sound. The aggressive look lost with the change to the heavily styled front end could be regained by adding hood scoops or intakes - just a thought. Additionally, the front wheels are (or seem to be) more widely set apart than the rear ones, which makes for poor handling - generally, you see the opposite.

That said and practical matters aside, the model looks lovely. :) If this were actually produced, it'd probably end up in my top five picks for style.

I can see you bringing lots of different ideas together for this, to the extent that it seems to be a little disjointed. To me it looks like more of a souped up bentley/jag cross than a merc however.

nice work but it definately needs another iteration on the mesh smooth( or what ever your using unless this is for a game and the glass really stands out it needs to be more reflective and transparent
and i would change the background to something more colourful something to convey the mood or feeling of the car more nothing much because that black is really jarring

thanks guys for all the good comments and thoughts...
all appreciated...;)

First, I like to say that... I made this just for fun... because, Mecedes Benz sl-500 is my dream car. I tried to model the real sl-500 but, I got bord. why waste time modeling something that's already been made. Not my thing... So, I decided to come up with some concept design of sl-500 for my own sake... and this is it.
wheather this model looks like jag or what ever... i don't care, 'cause as far as I'm concern it's sl-500 in my world... However, if this was real concept model, than what you guys have said probably all make sense and true.

btw, comments about technical side... i'm making note of it right now.

Thanks again guys and have great weekend.
