you oughta check out hawkprey's technique. its kinda similar. nice tho, esp. the 2nd one.

You know I think I read something about Doug Chang doing something similar to this.. he said in whatever I read or saw that he would look at the shape first as in your second drawing, and try to make sense of the creature, ship, whatever from there. Very nice method... good work!

I pick this up from one of fengs class but its done quite a bit in the industry- if you have a strong negative shape and reads well people will remeber it much better than a more generic shape. It kinda helps with the design process too - at least its fun to try.

I check out some of hawkprey's stuff- really impresive. I dig that kinda style.

just for fun I did another one- I been playing to much Tron2.0.

this is great stuff!...they should make another tron movie...

and an omega man movie starring tom cruise or or that guy from 6th sense ( cant recall his name *weird*)

you should see some of frank frazzetas early work for EC comics he did some shadowy type drawings like these way b4 frank miller and they rock- and so simple -gawd-...
