pretty nice piece, and welcome to the boards. As for my crit.... I get kinda lost in the composition, it lacks a focal point. You have several areas with competing levels of detail and contrast. I suggest giving the piece some direction. But you say you were 16 when you made this and your 17 now? How about you show us some more recent stuff so we can give you some pointers on where you are at right now.

So you've decided to go to the art institute huh? Well i'm actually on my way out of the one in orange county. I grad in 2 weeks. As for my take on the school..... its alright i guess. First couple years we had crap instructors but i was fortunate enough to get a couple of the guys from blizzard in my last couple terms who have taught me alot. But honestly it doesnt really matter too much about where you go, but rather what you put into it.

I think you have a good foundation, you shouldn't have any trouble developing the kind of skill that you envy in some of these other guys. (Well, *I* envy their skill)

As for being hesitant to post work that you're proud of, you may want to do a little soul-searching on the real reason. It usually isn't pride that creates modesty, it's fear of inadequacy. If you REALLY want to improve and reach your potential you must CUT THE UMBILICAL CORD once you've given birth to a work of art. Don't treat it like your own precious offspring and shield it from the world. Kick it out of the nest and see how it flies. Very quickly you will learn to make use of criticism (even the harsh or insulting kind) and you'll take it less personally.

It's tough to stand apart from your work because you put so much of yourself or your own private thoughts into it, but it does get easier over time. Cling to your skill, not the product you create.

MoMusumefan21 - I went to check out your site but it wouldn't load due to "Excessive bandwith consumption". I think this is why your posted pics are blanked out half the time. I'd like to see your other stuff, hopefully I'll catch it when your site is back on the radar.

I thought your statement about matching the best of conceptart.org within the next 2-3 years was ambitious and arrogant considering some of the talent and experience on this site. I like that. Kick ass and don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it.

Actually I was referencing Top Gun with the "arrogant" remark. Please don't dwell on that part; the main point I was making was "Kick ass and don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it."

Sorry if it felt like artillery, I didn't mean it that way. :)
