When you feel your losing interest in a drawing, take a break. Watch TV, read a book, grab a snack. When you return your mind should be fresh, plus you might notice and errors or problems with your work that you might.ve missed.

I have the same problem when im doing art for myself. Theres no problem when i get payed to do it as money is the best inspiration.
One thing that helps me though when im not doing it for the cash, is setting up goals, such a goal can be anything from designing an entire spacefleet by the end of the month, to just finnishing that boring picture before sleep. If i dont finnish those goals, i feel like a whanker, and nobody wants to feel like a whanker.
yeah, personal goals and\or money is the trick. :)

Yah, either force yourself to go further, pretend your on a deadline..sometimes that works for me, but I dunno, I guess it stifles creativity in some. Or just take a break, think about it, come back to it with a freshly objective view.
=) Good luck
