I came here from DevART to get comments on my art to better myself as an artist. Sadly, the only comments on DA I get are the "way to go", and "you did a good job" stuff. That helps very little. So I hope you guys can give me what I'm looking for. And don't hold back, If you think my work is crap, tell me so. I value the truth far more then I do suck ups.

My first crack at Cloud from FF7.

Quick drawing/Cg I did for a friend. It is of Sterling the Gold Dolf. A Dolf is a mix of a dragon and a wolf. : 3

Most of drawings posted are a few months old, I would have posted newer ones but they all went over the sites max KB or where over 1000x1000. I'll get some of my newer ones up soon, but this will do for now. : 3
Comment away! :confident

I think you need to get a lot more figure drawing under your belt if you really want to improve.

If you can, find a class in your area that features live models to draw from; if there aren't any, websites like www.characterdesigns.com and www.fineart.sk both feature lots of models and turnarounds for you to study. (They're all nude models, so make sure you get the okie-dokie with your folks before pulling up pages of naked people on your computer. ;) )

As far as learning construction goes, I still find Andrew Loomis' series to be one of the best guides to figure drawing, and illustration in general. The books are out of print now, but if you google Figure Drawing for All it's worth PDF, links should pop up that will lead you to his entire collection. They're definitely worth a look.

He also has a book called Drawing the Head and Hands, which should also be of great help to you. You suffer from the same problem I had when I drew anime, which is the fact that your characters don't have skulls. The angle of the forehead in the last image of the set doesn't allow for any sort of brain beneath his hair; foreheads slope in from the eyebrow ridge, not out. There's something off about the male character's neck as well, but 80% of it has to do with the malformed skull. If you fix that, I think the neck will seem a little more correct.

You've got a long road ahead of you, but perseverance is key. As long as you put in the effort, the folks here will be more than willing to help you. Welcome to CA.org, and I hope you'll enjoy your stay!

Thank you so much Senira. < 3
That's the kind of stuff I want to hear.

Yes, I do have big problems drawings male. I'm fond of saying it's a curse of mine. I draw mostly females a lot of the time.
On the last one, yea I see what you mean about the skull. :^^;:
He's brainless! x D

Here's a newer one, made this a few weeks ago.
