I find it strange for such a popular sci-fi author, Iain M. Banks' related art is disappointingly thin on the ground here, and over in DeviantArt - most of the artwork seen on the bookcovers of Banks sci-fi novels way back in the 1980s and 1990s were somewhat more inspired than the bookcover art in circulation in recent years.

And I generally think the aliens, ships, characters, and locations featured in Iain M. Banks novels is a fallow frontier for endlessly inventive artwork and concept designs (I've already did many Banks related sketches that I'm going to post in the next few years).
