Hi, this is a 'first post'-post... I'm only pointing this out because this forum doesn't have a post count on its thread view page, so it may not be obvious.

I'm pretty new to drawing... I have yet to get the hang of proper anatomy and correct shades.
Another thing i should point out is that I only draw digital. That's because I can't handle pencils very well, got shaky hands, heh. Anyway, I've been trying many different styles lately, and wanted to get some feedback...

Heh, my first post doesn't even get a single comment... that's not exactly making me feel welcome here. :p
Is there something wrong with my pics or what's the matter?

I'll just post another pic then... :)

Hey Bernie,

Yeah some people aren't exactly friendly here. lol like everywhere else this place has it's "clicks"

As for your work, it's very nice for a first post. You said that you haven't been working long? and that you only work digitally? I think this is a very nice first try.

I think generally, I would say that your major problem as you said is that you aren't capturing the anatomy as well as you could. I would if I were you read up as much as you can on the human anatomy. a good book to check out is

Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist by Stephen Rogers Peck ISBN: 0-19-503095-8

get that book and go at it... Also, I would consider going out with a sketch book and doing some gesture drawings at your local mall or whatever. Nothing helps in the understanding of how the body works like gesture drawings. It helps people understand the 'rhythm' of the human body.

Anyways I've babbled enough. Ilike your concepts. way better than my first post. :D

Keep it up post more.. you kinda have to be intrusive for anyone to even look at your work here.

Cheers! :chug:

Hey, thanks for the great advice dyoung, I'll keep practicing! :)

Heh, if you look around this place, you see so much cool stuff that makes your own drawings look like nothing. How long does it take to get as good as the pros on this board, I wonder? :D

Great style :) i like your coloring as well, you have some great lighting on these sketches without overworking them. THey remind me of an "Art of Final Fantasy 23" book i bought. (not sure which ff it was lol)

Thank you! :)
The guy who draws the concept art for the FF games is really good, I wish I'd remember his name... I remember viewing his page a long time ago, but I don't have the URL anymore.

Anway, here are two more pics:

Hey Bernie
How long you say? Man I don't even know where to begin with that... alot of the people here don't ever really stop... they just take little breaks for sleep LOL Myself personally, well I don't ever stop... I draw all the time, you almost have to in order to just keep up with the professionals... Pretty much all the people here live and breath art. So to get to where they are you just have to work non stop.

reading the other post, i agree Your work does feel like the Art of Final Fantasy book that I own. That is a good thing ;) Well enough of my babble... give us more man...

Yeah, drawing a lot really helps, I've been drawing every day last week, I hope I can keep that up!

I'll post more pics as they get done! ;)

:) Dont draw yourself into the ground! There is an art to knowing when to get up and get away from the pencil, too ya know.

Anyway, I really like your stuff. I am going to go out on a limb and tell you to keep creating. Go grab "Human anatomy made amazingly easy" by Chris Hart. This is a great beginning book for an 'artists' type of anatomy. But, dont get too hung up on it. You have some great pencil work going for you! Don't let the creativity be stifled because you think you have to follow some 'rules'. With enough practice and reading through anatomy books you will pick it up.

Good work!

Thanks for the advice! :)
For the stuff I want to draw I won't need 100 % accurate anatomy, for now I just wanna get at least the basics down, so that's what I'm working on for the time being.

More pics coming soon... :D
