hey people:] - im trying to scan some of my drawings at home on my flatbed and they are showing up the crumples/folds in the paper. what are the methods of getting rid of these crumples/folds?
im placing lots of weight on the top of the scanner but i dont want to put too much more;)
thanks

What's the medium on the paper? if its just pencil - then you could iron it, (not steam!)

Obviously make sure you turn it over and cover it before you iron, if its too hot you could imprint some of the pencil onto what you are ironing on.
(You're not ironing on the scanner - obviously)
It really depends on how crumpled it is? and what type of paper it is?

ironing paper works really well actually
Ive done it to historical prints that got stuffed in the back of a drawer
it works really well
andd actually if its thick ragg paper you can steam it from the back.

i would advise against steam. Steam will activate the binders in your mediums (mostly wax and glues) and permanently adhere them to the paper. Degas actually used this method to fix his pastel drawings to the paper.
