as if there weren't already so many...
the newest update lets you have folders that you can create to organize your work. drag and drop and it's all very simple and nice. for example: http://chumps.deviantart.com/gallery/
hohoho
but seriously it is very nice and hope ca's coders (whatever they are are working on for the new ca) are keeping an eye on developments like these.

Da?
I prefer CA.
Deviantart is just a bit bulky, sure, it's a great gallery thing.
But there's just so much more to CA than there's to DA for artists.
But thanks for the news :)

a little more than 1000...just keep holding your breath....by the time you wake up it should be wrapped up. deviantart is a big budget site...will be a while before we can do the high tech stuff. I will be happy with pure function at this point...and great organization. I can barely surf their site..even to look for people..is big and clunky and too man ads...

Yay, I will finally be able to tell people, visit my gallery at Concept Art.org...like I belong here or something..
Hey Jason, are the galleries going to be customizable..like the profiles??

Personally I wouldn't want CA to ever look as cluttered as dA. I like dA's gallery and thats about where it stops. I hate, hate their forum layout especially. :B Screw ever trying to find an old thread that's been bumped off the page and if you necro a thread it gets locked (even if you manage to find something good like an article someone posted).
I'll be glad when we get the galleries here. :) How is that going to be laid out? Will it be only for our top notch stuff (for portfolio only) or will we be able to have separate sub-sections for DSG, CHOW, COW etc?

I don't think the DA forums are for healthy, sane people to post in anyway. :$ I'm really liking the new folders and featured gallery setup though. It would be nice to have something similar on CA in future, however far off. :)

Nope, still UI poison.
The best art communities out there are still just forum based, and I hope CA never changes in that respect.

deviantart also has a nice feature where you can say "fuck anatomy" and get a few hundred compliments about your skewed anime style.
when will CA get ass-patters?
can we make ConceptArt look more like THIS (http://dietpepsi.20megsfree.com/xtina.swf) to be like deviantart?

Damn, I can't wait to get the CA gallery feature. I used to hang around at DA years ago but nowadays I just get goosebumps even thinking about it.

I'm sorry what ? This whole forum is filled up with asspats.
We definitely doesn't need more of them.
And if your the kinda person who likes that.. Then you better find out what DA is all about.. Cause you'd probably fit in.

i can't tell if this is some weird double-negative sarcasm that's messing with me or not.
maybe i've just been with a group of bitter art snobs, but the Critique Center here has been fairly brutal about every possible flaw lately. I'm sure Matisse would get a cold "check your anatomy" and a red-lined paintover of his overly curvaceous forms.
DA... well its DA... they don't take the kids aside and have a serious talk with them. case and point: pages like this (http://chasethehedgehog.deviantart.com/)
when CA encounters work of that level its encouraged with a "keep drawing" but with a more strict subtext of "go buy some anatomy textbooks and i hope your broken arms heal" and then we look around the room at each other and mouth the words "did you see that shit?" and Elwell will just be rubbing his temples like he has a massive headache and close the thread.

Grief , I wish CA was like that, really harsh critique everytime one posted.
I'm a pretty "new" member here. I haven't been around since the early days of CA. But I can still look at those posts. I wish CA was exactly like it was at that time, but now.
You'd see that noone would start crying for critique, and every post that was made in a thread, was made in that way so the person could improve out of it.
Today its just "Wooo good work, man I love ur work, omgzzzz!!!11!!"
Theres a few people still giving a lot to share the old "CA-ethics" in here. even if its hard with all new people that come here to get their ass patted everytime they post a crappy sketch that they haven't spend a minute on thinking.
But this is of course just me and my opinion. I wasn't much for critique when I got here either. And I got my ass kicked a few times thanks to it. THankfully I learned that "asspats" are nothing but for those who truly deserver it, or for those who wants to build up there own egos.
Best of luck to you, but I advice you to keep yourself to DA if you aren't looking for critique and to improve.
CA and DA isn't supposed to be the same thing. Imho.

Yeah, it's a nice feature, but i prefeer CA a 1000 times...... because i was in DA and still am very disappointed... CA has nothing to envy to deviant.... well except for that feature jeje and the fact that it's way much easier to upload images and the classification process is way too cool.... oh well, minor details.

Well Dile i think you're right we can't be such crying babies all time... and believe me a few critiques are nothing compared to what architects do to us on their classes... if a work is done wrong they "destroy" it in front of you -no matter how much effort you put on it- not to make you sad (well that's what they say once you start crying jeje) but to make you understand. And now i know it's like a "tradition" or something because in other architecture schools in my country they do the same process. And it might sound rough but that trauma is one of the best ways to learn. Things like that you never forget. Constructive critiques are for us to learn and if someone is offended with them then I think that what that person needs first is to learn how to learn.

Sorry for the delay, we ran into some coding problems (remember when Elwell had 2 thumbnails up top? yeah, that was an unexpected result of one of the problems). :sadcheerleader:
