Hello, i am new to these forums :bashful: and i thought this was the best place to ask this question. I have a book of univserity courses and in the art section it says that after my second year of art, i should choose a specialization; drawing, painting, graphic design, sculpture, etc.

I was just wondering what i should choose as my field of concentration. I was thinking of graphic design, but when i looked at the web page for their Graphic design programs, it doesn't seem like the proper place for someone like me, who wants to design things like creatures, characters, environments, vehicles, etc.

I was just hoping someone could give me a nudge in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

this is the website for their graphic design program by the way. http://www.umanitoba.ca/schools/art/index.php?sel=GRApro

Given those choices I'd shoot for Drawing or Painting. They're probably as close as you're going to get to designing creatures.

I guess part of my decision to choose one or the other would depend on the faculty there as well. Can any of them be supportive of your tract? Do any of them have any practical advice or contacts in the field to help you along your chosen field?

Ask around or maybe take a look see at their students' work to see if any of it is akin to what you're looking for.

Good luck.
