Hey guys. Im seriously looking at the wacom cintiq and read many reviews and it seems that the parallax is the only thing that got me kinda worried. One reviewer said it wasnt a big deal then again another said it kinda was. All I want to know is how it is and how you guys like it. I have a regular tablet but want to upgrade with the on screen drawing. Money is not the issue just want to know how you guys like it and if the parallax is annoying. Thanks guys.

The parallax (distance between cursor and pen tip?) was a big deal to me when looking at tablets, but the cintiq seemed the most minimal of them all. I haven't looked at the latest tablets, but I'd guess that the cintiq is proably still the best in this area. Plus, I do love the cintiq because the colors are correct on it, as opposed to having to fix the right combination on other screens.

Hey Man,

However much the parallax is,I totally got used to it. Now I almost feel like I'm drawing on paper. For me,drawing on a tablet doesn't even compare to drawing on a cintiq...I will never go back if I can help it.

So,basically, you might notice the parallx a bit at first, but that annoyance(if there is any)will go away very quickly.

Go buy one,you won't regret it!

as for colors...the colors might be correct, but tend to be darker than most other monitors...so that's another thing you might want to consider...but the cintiq is still awesome...

How about the lag ?
Does it depend on your computer ?
My pc is about 8 months old, but it wasn't exactly expensive.
Thanks in advance !

I think it does depend on the computer. Mine is pretty basic for today's pc and I almost never have any lag at all in painter. Only if a brush is ridiculously too big does it lag.

The nayers (like me lol) probably despise the Cintiq for it attrocious cost for the few gains over the Intuos. To put it that way, Cintiq is an Intuos except you draw on a screen. Fine. But is it really worth to invest the additional 2000$ on an Intuos with a screen? Is it really worth it? what happen if few month after your purchase Wacom came up with a new model much better at the same price? What if it break after few months of usage, does Wacom (or the retailer) cover the shipping expenses? Can your work will defenitly pay the bill or it will just burden you more in your finances? Does it really fills up your needs? You have to think a lot before investing into a such thing.

I have a 21ux.
-Paid 2350.00
I basically wanted to ink my pencils. Well I'm back to old brush and pens.
As far as the sides thing not really a problem at all.
Parallax-no big deal at all.
Also try felt tips on your tablet pen before you buy, they offer more friction for more control.

Pros:
-draw on screen for straight lines and fast color fills/masking.
-well thats a biggie
-better drawing control
-good color read on monitor
-with painters cover pencil you get this slick flowy line, kind of like jj's pencils
-its the living end for 2d animation
Cons
-No place to rest your hand. It doesnt lie flat, it like hovers 3 inches off the desk and after a bit you shoulder gets tired. Big annoying!
-too big.
-overpriced.
-I got this half dead pixel right out of the bat that drives me nuts

If I could go back in time Id buy a tablet pc. I lug my paper sketchbook everywhere and it would be sick as hell to paint all over the place. To be honest a norm wacom tablet is just as suitable as cintiq for painting.
It would be ultimate if it was flat like the new 12 they make.
I'm forced to make a desk to suite it now.

In conclusion my write on screen hierarchy:
1.tablet pc 1500.00
2.12 cintiq 1000.00
2.20ws cintiq 2000.00
4.21ux cintiq 2350.00
