Hello. I have just recieved my first Wacom drawing tablet. It is an Intuos3 6x8. I was wondering what kind of settings you guys use to draw. Right now I don't think I have anything tilt-wise or pressure-wise set up, but as I look at sketches here I see strokes which differ in size. My strokes are all the same size for now. So, it would help to know what others use so I can try them out and pick my preference. Thanks.

Do you have Photoshop?
You have to have a program that utilizes pressure sensitivity. There are alot of programs out there that have it, but alot that don't also.

yeah it could be your brush settings in the application youre using and not the wacom settings.
a bit more info on what youre using will help with how to fix the problem.

I think it should have pressure sensitivity by defualt, but if it's not working you may need to go to your tablet settings or download the drivers.

Hmm, interesting, why does he use LAB instead of HSB sliders? The latter one makes much more sense to me.

Actually, almost all of the settings are preference. However there is one important setting that will cause you some trouble when drawing if you don't set it correctly.
- Go to Wacom Settings & select the pen.
- Click on the mapping tab
- Check the "Force Proportions" checkbox.
Without this setting turned on, if the dimensions of your tablet don't match the dimensions of your screen it will distort things to make them match- i.e. if you have a widescreen monitor (or multiple monitors) and a 4:3 tablet, a perfect circle drawn on the tablet will actually be squished to an ellipse on the screen. This can cause quite a bit of trouble if you're not aware of it- it can easily be mistaken for the disconnect of not being used to drawing on the tablet while the image is on the screen.
I also recommend taping a piece of heavyweight drawing paper over the active area of your tablet to give you some more friction when drawing. Lightweight paper also helps with the friction, but will buckle after a bit of use. Some people prefer the slicker surface of the tablet though, so this one falls into the realm of preference, of course. But I found it made a world of difference (thanks to whomever I read that from here).
