Okay. Im currently at college in the UK and i'm aiming to go to university next year. The problem is, I don't know what course I should take to further my prospects of one day becoming a concept artist in the game industry. I've been looking at games design courses and was quite eager to apply to one of these, but after doing a bit more research on the internet I've got the impression that these degree's don't really do much to help further prospects of getting into the gaming industry.

So I just wanted to know if it would be worth spending three - four years in a games design degree, or would I be better off taking some form of art degree or just try a get an internship in a games company rather than going to university?

Just any help would be great :)

Thanks in advance.

Thanks man. That was really helpful :):):)

Will go re-write my personal statement now so that its for fine art instead of games design :)

You're welcome, I guess. That's all it took to scare you away from the games industry? :dur:

Nah lol. I just think that taking a degree in fine art would be more beneficial than a games design degree :)

Most of the games design degrees i've looked at aren't spefically based around the art side, so taking a fine art degree would probably be more helpful in becoming a concept artist:)
