I really dig the design. As far as the model goes I really think that you should just do a hi res. The low res takes to much from what it can actually be. I almost tempted to take a crack at it cause its such a cool design. Forget I said that its just that I'm having to learn this new 3D scanning for my job so I'm not doing anything creative and it sucks. Honestly though try making it high res I think it be a cool piece.

This character is really cool and if you get your 3d model to have as much expression as your concept drawings it'll be just as sweet.
Keep it coming!

i dig the concept man. i would have never though of doing something like that. its great. but i do agree with stonepilot in making it a hi res model. you can do a hell of a lot more. pardon the french. but you can. but i think you do have your work cut out for you. but if you do it right it will be a very sweet character. bring him to life.
bring him to life

thanks guys! I really appreciate the kind remarks. Yeah I want to do all that I can with this guy ( hes the model thats helpin me learn max ) I plan on doin a more high end for my animation learnin ( like muscle deformers and facial expressions and a lil tummy jiggle ) but I dont even know how to texture yet so Ive got my work cut out for me! I hope to have an update soon! Again thanks all!

I really love the character design. He looks like alot of fun to animate.
I think the low-poly is fine, no need to get real heavy. Some of the smaller details would be cool, like the chains from the wrists and the studs, but you've done a good job so far.
As far as comments go, I'd say maybe go in a try to spend more time on the hands. It seems like the fingers taper off kind of evenly and get small. You'd figure if this guy has to walk around all day with his arms, he'd have some pretty big hands and shoulders. now that i look at it, his arms may be a bit too long. They look short and stubby in your drawing... you may want to go in and check that.
nice work

That's sweet, melmann... very cool concept and great execution. I'd love to see how you animate this bad boy.

great work i would look into smoothing groups though
smoothing groups will create an overall smooth shading without adding any additional geometry ... its in the bottom portion of the editable mesh tools
