stupid coder?
hey now, thats not very positive. i can see how you want to be an artist though ... :o just messing, want to teach me some programming? i'll trade you knowledge. (i think if you fall for it, i might get the better deal out of it - i love how i act like i will be able to understand anything you would try to teach me, and how the tangent thought in the parenthisis is longer than the actual post .. hm.)
.. the eyes arent level. have anything else of your work you could post so we can get an idea of where you are at?
i think it looks great, is it a self portrait?
if it is (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=22)
you could learn alot here.

Eheheh! :)
Thanks for the support and the proposal killing.people ;)
I think we could exchange some knowledge, that's for sure. I can teach you some programming in whatever field you like the most (demos, games, dbs, web, etc..)
This isn't a self portrait.. it's just a drawing with no reference at all.. you can see some of my other drawings there: http://tanis.hateseed.com/gallery/gfx
Oh! I've seend the Self Portrait of the Day forum.. that's AMAZING!

looks like you have devoloped your drawing skill pretty far already, i doubt i can teach you anything :funny: i was only joking. you have some great sketches and concepts in your gallery btw! amazing that you know your code that well and can draw. (!?) hehe, they seem like they are from different worlds.
i wouldnt mind learning some game programming, it is an unexplored territory for me. i guess i should start now - do you have any good beginner programs, links, sites or informational webpages? i hope to one day be a part of a game development team and i think it would help to know some of the programmer's language so we can at least have lunch together.
i think programming and art is equally as frusterating when learing it, art is more of an indirect approach with learning. instead of tackling information straight on, (which wouldnt hurt) art can only be learned with application and practice. i feel silly even thinking i could teach you how to draw but i think with the forum over my shoulder it should work nicely and could even be and interesting thread.
i think i can achieve a goal that a bobolo had.
but gaming! all gaming nothing else, i want to discriminate agaist everything else.

I'm far from being a "decent" artist. Everything I learned was mostly from Sijun.com forums (http://www.sijun.com/). I have found a lot of real artists there with a strong will to teach. Craig Mullins, along with Ron Lemen (and I have had the chance to ask a couple of questions to Jason Manley, too) and other artists have helped me and a lot of other people to learn at least a bit about how to draw.
This forum is what I think is the natural evolution of Dhabih's forums. I hope to be able to further improve my skills watching the masters and practicing everyday.
To say the truth, I've been involved in the demo scene as a coder and I worked for a few companies in the game industry. If you really want to learn how to code games you should browse to Flipcode (http://www.flipcode.com/) which is the best place to visit for that matter.
Coders in the gaming industry are usually working with C/C++, some assembly (usually for PS2 and consoles nowaday) and lots of scripting languages, both self-coded and open source. Once you learn how the syntax of C++ works, you're almost set with whatever language you can ever hit.
If you want to give me some inputs on drawing, I'm your apprentice :)
I think that I'm getting better at basic line drawing and pencil sketching, but I'm still completely off with values.
