I'm really thinking about buying one of those new Bamboo writing tablets from wacom to replace my tiny little 4x5 intuos3. The bamboo I'm looking at in particular is the 5.3x8.5 inches and is said to have better support for widescreen displays than my current tablet. The widescreen support is especially good because I'm currently using my 4x5 intuos 3 on 42 inches worth of widescreen workspace (1x 22 inch monitor + 1x 20 inch monitor).

Has anyone had any experience with this tablet? or any of the other bamboo tablets?

i might get it for it's easy look and portability.
instead of toting around my 9x12 intuos 3 tablet.

I have a friend who just bought one, cant remember what size t was- but it was pretty freakin cool. For the smaller ones which dont usually have the shortcut buttons and such, these ones have a few navigational and shortcut options on the top ( scroll, and a couple of (programmable?) buttons). He was using it on a PC, with Vista (yuck) and it worked fine on PS. I fiddled with it a bit, not long enough to give you a detailed review but I managed to make a pic with it and didnt notice anything different from my Intous2.

I will see if I can borrow it and give a better review.
But for the most part:
1. It looks cool
2. Smooth writing area
3. It functions properly -does what it's meant to do
4. You cant beat the price of this Wacom product
5. Its a Wacom...

-Edit:
Forgot to say, if you are working on such a large space and you are serious about your work- then invest on a bigger one- trust me it makes a difference.

JFAlfaro - Yeah man, I saw that bamboo on newegg.com and was pretty impressed with the price. Sure it's only got 512 pressure levels, but that's plenty for a bigger budget tablet.

As far as buying a bigger one and being serious about my art. I'm pretty serious about my art, but I'm holding off on seriously getting into digital painting again until I master a few things with pencil and paper (pen and paper?) Mostly right now I'll just be doing digital color studies, so this *should* be perfectly suitable I'd imagine.

Can't wait for your review if you can get around to it.

I have the Bamboo Fun Medium and it's really great. Works perfectly on my Imac with both OSX and Win XP. Really can't beat the price (i payed 150 euros/should be around 200 dollars). It also looks cool ;-)
