POLL:EOW 69 Milliways. The restaurant at the end of the Universe
(with apologies to Mr Adams although these are so cool I don’t think apologies are called for).
Winner of EOW 68 Gaius Lovely work! I really must update that winner’s thread. You’ve won several now…..:P
The New topic is posted

Get out the Cad red!
For this Challenge we had 9 entries, there will be Nine going to poll. But only because I feel benevolent, two were Attached images and I am rehosting them… It won’t happen again. Shera, u are new and can be forgiven, and Artiphats the piece was cool and you are recently returned..I figure you just forgot…right? It won’t happen again …right?

there were many beautiful entries this time. But the MCEscher Diner won my vote by it's total cool ness

jread won my vote because IMO he captured the wackiness that would be the restaurant at the end of the universe would be.

close call between jread and gaius, but gaius won it with the colors

v - Corrick
Something about your entry bears a phenomenally real quality - I can imagine taking the elevator up into a Cheeseburger Diner atop the intergalactic axis. This is one of the best that I've seen from you. Whatever you had in that milkshake, have it cloned and continue consumation.
Keep doing you

jread has my vote...his entry was an unexpected twist to the restaurant at the end of the universe theme...

Both Corrick and Timothee had AWESOME entries, IMHO, this week. Corrick for some stunning rendering and Timothee, I LOVE the retro swoop you carried through the whole design. VERY very cool. Lots of brilliant things going on around here this week...

V - corrick for nice render, composition/pov, idea
jread, has a very cool concept too.
gaius, sick rendering/colors

Voted corrick I love the cinematic feel to your image.
Special mention to Jread for the most imaginative entry.
Great round all, thanks for the topic chaos

Voted for Gaius because of the great colours.
My second vote would have been Timothee. Nice picture and as in Gaius' entry nice colours.

Corrick got my vote, as most people have mentioned, it has a great cinematic quality. But well done to all, its a bit of a shame there were not more entries for such a fun topic though.

Nice effort from everyone that participated. Thanks Jessi for the vote, it's always appeciated. TLL, thanks for the compliment, i love playing around with color. I voted for Gaius because the scene is believable as an intergalactic restaurant, and I like the speed paint look to our pic.

I voted for Jread, because I thought his was very Douglas Adams. It is damn cool.
November 9th, 2007, 09:40 AM
Jread got my vote. Gaius used the best colors and put a great composition, but jread gave me the sense of the restaurant at the end of universe.

Voted for Gaius. If there's a restaurant I'd want to watch the Universe end from, that'd be it.
Robmorfin, it's an interesting concept, and for some reason I love the crystal structures holding each tower, but it doesn't say restaurant to me. The background is very cool, very 50's sci-fi movie effect.
Morrigana, I think the emphasis on the background is what threw me, even if it is lovely. The energetic streaks of lightning are especially nice. There's just not enough restaurant.
artiphats, I dug the design of this. It's a solid piece.
jread, hands down the cleanest execution in here. The only reason I would have to critique this is lack of window space. :) Other than that, this piece rocks.
TLL, good, solid architecture that looks like a cross between diner and aircraft carrier, but it's underdeveloped.
Shera, I'd love to see this one up close, the architecture you've developed is unique enough that it deserves more attention and detail. The composition is a also little two dimensional and minimizes the restaurant. Out of curiosity, what medium did you use?
Timothee, nice retro feel, and one of the few that actually grounded this thing on a planet (which is where it was built). I love the design of the place. Personally though I would like to see more of a devastated landscape, all craggy and broken. Still, very cool.
Great entries everyone!

Corrick>>thanks for the feedback, i pretty much agree with your crit, because i did put some effort into the actual drawing of the restaurant only to obscure it later by trying to emphasize the wormhole. I should have made the wormhole smaller...oh well..
I used an airbrush on illustration board although for the next one i may do an ink & wash illustration or watercolor painting...airbrushing is a bit constraining...
