I've signed up for one of SCAD's information sessions and I'll be attending it this Sunday; the trouble is, I have no real idea what I've signed up for. I've never been to anything like it. Am I supposed to be ready to apply (which I'm very not, planning to apply for Fall '08 )? And what kind of events are lined up for these sorts of things?

I've also asked for a Portfolio Counseling session, and I don't know how formal or informal it is supposed to be. It says on the SCAD website that each JPEG image is supposed to be over 1000 pixels wide or tall, which is a problem as my computer isn't exactly the greatest machine so the largest thing I've worked with in the past is maybe 800 pixels wide. And do I have to make a presentation out of it, or can I just bring a disc with the samples on it?

I've never done anything like this before, especially since I'm completely changing majors (from English to Illustration), so I'd love some help from somebody who's been there before.

(and omg first post, yey!)

Hi, I go to SCAD. Um, I'm not sure what the "information session" you're talking about is. Are you talking about SCAD Day? Anyways, it sounds similiar to what I went through when visiting the school. When I visited a couple of times it was very relaxed, you met one-on-one with a counselor.

Oh, and if you are wanting to start going to school here in Fall '08, then yes, you would want to apply now. You can send in the forms (letters of recommendation/transcript/etc) now, and then send your portfolio later for scholarship consideration.

Hope that helps. :)

I think the Info Session is just like SCAD Days without the tour (of course). Thanks so much, that does help a bit.

Eek. Gotta get my paperwork together.

Info sessions for any school tend to be an admissions officer telling you about the different aspects of the school, the application process, social, academic, requirements, and q&a. Usually last about an hour or less. As for the portfolio review, no idea.
