This painting was done for an online art forum. I wanted to really push the color scheme with this one, so I opted for a rather cool scheme, with the warmer tones to help the figure pop out. This image took around 5 days to finish, on and off. Reference used.

Very nice flesh tones...How did you go about getting that translucent feel? If I may ask.

wow. this is a really strong piece, i love it.
my only immediate crit would be about the piercing, which doesn't seem as solid as the rest of the figure. maybe add a cast shadow onto the skin?

This is very, very lovely. The colors are beautiful. The blue eyes along with the orange hair is a perfect combination, they really pop each other in their complementary. Have any more? Also, I would like to add, that this is my new desktop. Five stars from me.

This is a quite striking piece, but the hard line of her right shoulder really pops out at me and feels too graphic and sharp compared to other elements at equal depth.
The eyes straddle the creepy and sensual very nicely, BTW.

really nice piece, lovely technique. Only thing that seems to bug me is how you cut off the shoulder. It would look more complete if you pushed it to the edge, like the other side. And as somebody mentioned the piercing doesn't fit too well, cast a shadow and it probably will :)

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I was a bit hesitant to post it, but hey, what the hell?
Will_S.: Thank you. That transulent feel on the skin was done by color picking the torquise background color, and painting over the highlights of the skin with a very low opacity and flow. Made a huge difference I gotta admit.
newman: Thanks. The piercing was more of an afterthought I gotta admit. But yeah, a harsher shadow would definitely help.
Setherial: Thank you. I didn't play it safe with colors in this one, so it was a bit risky. Glad it worked though!
Gisaiagami: Thank you!
Ellingsworth: Thanks a lot. I'm currently doing a lot of paintings for a video game company, none of which I can't show until release unfortunatly. I am however trying to get around to do some personal pieces as well. Got a lot of ideas that I'm itching to paint....
rpace: Thanks, I definitely agree with your critiques. I'll see if I can go back to it and soften it up a bit.
sourgasm: Thank you. Hopefully I'll have some more paintings up by next month.
Matsign: Don't we all :)
spookybabydoll: She is alive :)
ray fett: Thank you!
Daray: Definitely agree with you there. I have to admit, I don't like to go back to a piece when it's 'finished'. But we'll see.

I love the color, that beautiful face, the huge eyes and the expression of gasping bliss. What a captivating image.

Is she meant to be grabbing at me? At least she seems to be doing that, in a magical way. Lovely.

The colour scheme is great, really attention grabbing, and (as already mentioned) her facial skin is beautifully rendered.

Colors and textures are great, the face is lovely/creepy, but I wish she wasn't an amputee.

lol, love the will smith one, though the ears and the hat look a bit unfinished. Also love the top image, the red hair and blue eyes and pale complection realy is an eye stopper :)

Thanks everyone. I forgot to mention, the two caricatures were done really fast (I had a very tight deadline, so I'm aware they're a bit unfinished. I'll definitely touch them up later on based on the critiques I receive here :)

Really like the colors in the first piece. Nice contrast between the cold and warm. I do have to agree with the others though, it will look better if the arms were completed or at least faded into the background, without the need of the hard edges.
The caricatures are looking good too. You did a good job with the caricatures too. Adding to what Grenogs said about the ears, I believe the contrast is due to the difference in texture and detail between them and the face.
Good works so far, I'll keep looking forward for more.

refering to the first pic posted - what amazes me so much is the contrast between her blue eyes and the red hair. The girl is simply fascinating.
Did you paint some friend of yours or does it come from some photo references page (like www.female-anatomy-for-artist.com (http://www.female-anatomy-for-artist.com))?

Wow amazing! :D
Got question about the first portrait of girl with red hair, Is she by any chance also an artist who is posting on CA?
Because I saw a picture of a girl in Lounge under "What does everyone look like?" who is amazingly similar to girl in the portrait. Friend of yours or strange coincidance?
In any way, very very good job! :)

Maestro Andres: Thank you. I really wanted to push the colors in the first piece, and I spent a lot of time thinking about the color palette (a lot more than I usually do). I agree about the arms, I'll definitely update this piece soon. Good point about the Will piece as well, you definitely have a point.
spudstudios: Thank you.
maceska: Thank you, glad you enjoy the play of color. The reference came from a stock photo over at Deviant Art, it was fairly highly referenced (most of my work is).
Blaz: Answered above, I don't thinks he's an artist (I don't have her page saved anymore due to a recent hard drive crash), so I'm not sure if she's participating here as well. Glad you like my work.
Summer Pudding: Thank you. I have to admit I'm very satisfied with the first image, and consider it my best work to date.
stalsby: Success! Thank you.

Wow really nice. Great render.
I think the background could be a little more interesting without distracting the viewer from the vocal point. But thats just nitpicking.
Your first piece in this thread is lovely!
Keep posting!
