Hi,
I'm currently a freshmen and I was wondering when most colleges give out scholarships. Is it always for seniors or is it possible for a freshmen-junior to snag one.
Also are there any scholarships for art students in northern California and if so what do I have to prepare for to get one?

Hi, a school generally does not award scholarships until your senior year. Besides, you wouldn't want to do it earlier, gives you more time to submit an awesome portfolio. :)

But this not to say you can't start getting outside scholarships now (ones from companies/organizations...not the schools). There are many (albeit small) scholarships offered to many ages. Try www.freewebs.com or your school counselor.

Ah! As a freshman, you are in prime position to get and maintain a high GPA - thus qualifying you for academically based scholarships.
Seriously. Do it.
