Character : Robot GIRL + Robot WOMAN (2IMG's)

I actually did this for a recent "Daily Sketch Group" assignment (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10955), but didn't make it to the thread in time.
Looking for general feedback/crits.

Nice Gigeresque feeling! I like the transparency of the body very much. I´m not sure but I think in some parts - esp. the legs - it feels a bit blurry.

Otherwise a great pic!

Yeah.. the legs are pretty fuzzy. I guess I'll go back into those and fix 'em up a bit. Actually, I was also thinking they might be a bit long, but for the difficulty involved in shortening them I think I'll just chalk it up to experience:D .

Not much interest in this image, I guess. To spice things up a bit, I'll include my other offering to that same DSG assignment...

Reminds me of H.R.Giger. But with humour.

The second image is cool too. Maybe add a bit of contrast? (You've probably done it already...)

oy that second piece is really cool. scary Xray type vision, showing a semi robotic fetus. with nerves:)

gross and cool. You should print it on a transparent paper and hang it up on one of those backlit displays. Would look awesome.

The first piece has emotional content which draws the viewer into it, the second is flat emotionally. You could pump up the impact of the first by reworking the background, keeping in mind composition. Where do you want the eye to go, the robots face, the animal? The background does seem to be more of an afterthought...

Glad you like it Molly! Yeah, Giger's been a huge influence and some of that is certainly plain to see here. Hm.. more contrast? Really?

Theo that's a very good idea about making a backlit display for this type of imagery! I was in a framing store yesterday and they had a light box for exactly that purpose, actually. It caught my eye, and I was considering how I might make and use such a device, so your comment sits as one of those very peculiar "coincidences" that seem to pepper life.

Coldcutpi, your comments are spot-on. And - yeah - that background really was an afterthought. I've usually avoided backgrounds, but now I'm trying to incorporate them. But because I've avoided them, I'm unfamiliar, very timid, and rather awkward about the whole affair...

...I'd done the figure by itself, and then forced myself to put her somewhere... I guess I'm in that early stage of learning known as "conscious incompetence" :(
I appreciate your comment, because while it's critical that I acknowledge this very basic truth, I often ignore the obvious.:)
