Hi Sammy,
I really like the way you rendered the chain thingy in the back, but I think th epelvis region could use some buffing up. it feels a bit to flimsy at the moment for such a heavy looking golem.

way cool sammy, very creative. Sounds like something that would be in the Magic cards series. :p The colors and shading are awesome too

Thanx guys, .. I've finaly discovered my process for colored pieces!

R_M - Yea you may be right.. I experemented with more beefed up forms in the thumbnail phase.. but what I wanted to communicate (and maybe I failed) was that this thing wasn't effected by gravity.. I thought that thin connections would give more of a sence that he was brought together by some wizard dude and had somewhat hovering parts.

Mind telling us about your new discoverd painting process? cuz this looks great!

The perspective in the diff. limbs looks awkward, especially in the legs.

nice job.

Thanx,

I.Was.Ink - yea, my perspective was skiewed on purpose.. I wanted the thing to look more like a cartoon.. more playful ... but coloring it so detailed I think took it out of that "Cartoon" realm..

I start by picking my thumbnaile, then I scan and enlarge it.. as to trace it's basic sillouhette on markerpaper..

once I trace the sillouhette I detail it in 10% marker I go in and ink it..

once the inking's done I take some tria refill ink and put a little on my toothbrush and splatter the whole damn thing! (A little trick I learned from sequential art classes in highschool)
Then I block in my reflective light sources... an orange/brownish for the light reflecting off the ground and the golem.... and a greenish (foresty) light comming from above... then I marker it in grayscale and block in shadows.... when that process is done I get the highlights with a white pencil and whiteout..

I scan that in and set a layer to multiply and set up the basic colors.. from there I just detail

:chug:
