Some of your work is so gorgeous... The texture is astounding and the form is right on. However, some of your compositions are weaker than I'd like them to be and the influences of the environment on some characters could use some tweaking.
Everything considered: A-, I'd say.

Ridick you are one of my fav artists here on Ca because of how grim and macabre you can make your characters.
However, I often times feel dissapointed with the fact that the detail and attention you put to the characters face doesnt extend to his/her body. ever.
Even the first drawing, it is indeed an epic drawing, but I just wish the body was as detailed as the face. not necessary, but it would take u to the next level. anyone agree?

Alex, your art never ceases to amaze me. I love the GORT designs on your MySpace page in particular. Could I request your interpretation of Teela and the Sorceress from MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE? The promo art for the PS3 title Heavenly Sword reminds me of Jessica Beil as Teela. Anyone else notice this? I picture Megan Fox as Teela. Her eyes are to die for.

Many thanks for your great comments and your interest in my work Monkey King.
I do not know if I can answer to your request but I will try to keep in mind your interest for these two characters.
I think the sorcerer would be a very interesting character to re create.
Stalsby< Yep! hehehehe hihihihiihi
Donalfall< If someone want to do the comic, I will be happy, but I think there will be certainly other "cover" Art around this character...

Love your creature designs, but I really like the more humanoid ones myself, because I like being able to see an artist with strong anatomy skills.
Would love to see a few more bright and crazy colour schemes, just to see how you handle them, but otherwise no real crits - just praise.

I'm in all kinds of love with some of your textures. You make a damn fine evil face as well. Skeletor and the big evil warlord dude behind conan are wonderful. Hell, I like too much of this to go into detail. bravo.

Hello Blue Disciple. I always use photoshop for my personal work.
Too cool, Riddick. I'm a Photoshop user myself.
Hey, I would like to comment on the three women on rocks or shells or whatever those things are. That picture has really outstanding form.
Also, in your more recent work, I'd have to say the "Captain Zombie" is my favorite. Tremendous detail work! That must have taken days to render all of that.
Finally, the mutant with the microphone has a hilarious expression (and supreme detail).

I've never attempted a comic book before, but I was a professional Military journalist for the past five years and have always wanted to pursue some creative creations other then the diplomatic and politically correct b.s. I was made to write about.
In either case, I've been cooking up a world in my mind for the past three years and I think Capt. Zombie would make a great main character for this. I do have to adapt some elements and change some things to make him a more viable main character but I think it would really work.
Some of my writings can be found at Dcmilitary.com under search type Spc. Jason L. Johnson and you'll get a list of all the stuff I've written while I was in the Army for the Army.
So if you're really interested in doing a comic book, or to give your character a world he can live in we could cook something up.

I really like your vision of the skeleton character from he-man world. Really great!
One what is the strong of your works is that you don't beautifull render it. I can see hard the brushes and fell the "meat" and density of the paint. Your works will be cool look in oils.

Hi people, Many thanks for your answers!
Sevans< Thank you, I am currently on few cool bodies, you should appreciate.
davekang< Many thanks Dave for your kind words!
DanielC< Merci Daniel!
andyhunt< It is not always easy to guess if people will reject or appreciate a well known character, glad you appreciate Skeletor!
Blue Disciple< Hihihi a mutant with a microphone...Yeah he is weird...I will maybe create a girl mutato band!
Coplars< Many thanks for your interest in Captain Zombie.
And, well, you know I took the time to answer just to have another specimen of him. The newest is far from the original, maybe more comic book, les dramatic.
Your project is very interesting and I have read some of your different articles but I do not have the time to create a comic book right now. I am too much involved in my conceptual designer movie job.
TheGnoll< Yeah Frazetta rocks!
mariusz< I exepct to paint with oils this year if I have the time. This medium is really attractive.
AntiMatty< And it is not finished.
Well, I have an other crazy Captain, and also some wishes. Thanks again, hope you enjoy!

a new captain zombie cover!
the logo works, the character's cool, only small thing is there could be some more red details in the suit to echo the red n the logo, just as a design thing, but hell, what more could you sak in a comic? zombies, tentacles mosnters and a aked chick in every cover!
MORE!

sweet. you'd like a few of mine too.
love the play within the body forms. if you are looking for things to explore more, i'd say 1) more varied composition, perhaps in playing up the great distortions you have- egon schiele would be a great find for you compositionally. 2) color color color. love the glowing skin, but some pop of reflected or odd color, even slight, would give a reference point to set up your great stuff.
thanks- can't wait for more.

hey man, cool tosee another update from you. That girl is HAWT!
i wonder what kind of disgusting reference you use to paint those gruesome detail in such effective way.The wolverine piece convinces me a bit less, the composition is great, as well as the color and the painterly style, but i feel like there's something wrong in wolverine.Probably its because he looks weirdly realistic...shoudn't be hard to work on just A BIT of exaggeration in anatomy and pose to make it look less human and more...you know, supahero! right now he's a big thought guy, but he's a bit too "square" and normal...aww, dunno how i can explain.
anyway, just my 2 cents...keep sharing!

I never used pictures references for my monsters. Always trying to create something unique, not a copy of something from a book or internet.
About Wolvy, you point something interesting, I think I should keep in mind your idea of what a superhero should looks like.

I like your interpretation of She-Hulk. In the comics she is usually drawn with a more slender, attractive figure, which doesn't make much sense if she's supposed to be an over-muscled hulk monster like her male counterpart.
I just watched the second Fantastic Four movie recently, and I like your version of the Silver Surfer.
