First of all Iīm really glad to find CA, never seen so much talent and such great amount of art.
Iīm drawing since a child, I didnīt do any artschool but I would love to make murals as a job one day, professionaly that is...
Iīll start off with some old sketches and then update soon as I can...not like a lot of you, cause I got 2 kids running around here:^^;:
Enough talking here are my picz, crits and comments are very welcome...donīt spare me a bit...

Hey man awesome start to your sb!
I really think you have an awesome 'flow' to your originals stuff!
Looks like you are honing your digital painting chops as well. Kudos.
I found the very last post visually pleasing as well as ironic cause I am currently doing lots of bug studies and happened to draw a firefly just last night.
Oh and the red frog render is my fave of those studies so far! Keep it up and Ill keep checking back..

December 16th, 2008, 04:50 PM
Hey, thanks for your critique, I'm really blessed for each entry (especially for some like yours). You're probably right with the fuzzyness, although I think it's already reduced to an acceptable level (isn't it?) ... On the other hand I have to say that you seem to be one step ahead on this subject :)
Your pieces from ref kick ass man I really had to have a sharp look on the first NG bug to get the real one :oneye: ...
Oh and I think umbrella would be the correct translation for regenschirm ... ;)
ghoulio
December 17th, 2008, 01:13 AM
Thanks for the replies guys...
daHIPPIE: Iīve been trying to do so, but I really have problems with taking this level of painting in my own pieces...gotta get more into the lights and values and other theories I think.
lord regenschirm: Yes...the fuzzyness isnīt that bad or so, think your pieces are less fuzzy then mine actually, but itīs something I saw that could be even better, just to let ya know haha.
That first bug piece I did using the colourpicker, it really isnīt hard to do, only takes a lot of time...the other bug studies where much more fun to do(without the colourpicker) and much faster.
Ofcourse...UMBRELLA...me agian thinkin to be funny...NOT!!
Thanks again, cya...

December 17th, 2008, 12:49 PM
Hey, thanks for stopping by my sketchbook. You have some really neat concepts here, and I love your pencilwork! Good stuff. Your digital paintings could be less blobby, though. The bugs look good, but the fuzziness doesn't really work in the rest. I haven't seen many digital paintings (overall) where the unfocused-photo look really works. I'm not saying that it's not worth experimenting with, just that getting a good result with that technique seems to be rare. Maybe try a few paintings using a hard-edged brush at low-ish opacity and see how that works out for you.
Other than that, you have some pretty cool ideas -- it'll be interesting to see what else you come up with. I especially like that reclining raptor, it's hilarious. :)

Thanks domo arigato...
Improvement is slow yes...my work and my 2 little princesses wont let me draw enough and when I draw I should do more practice stuff like anatomy etc..
But I really would have felt bad if my skills got worse haha...thanks again

yoyoyo!
long time no see:P
but you got some nice stuff in your latest updates! love the environments. where u can make some more progress is maybe detailing the environments a little bit more. sometimes it feels like they dont really have a focus point because everything has the same intensity if you know what i mean. maybe its also the composition that might be a little bit more exciting. but that doesnt take away they are beautiful!

Hey lowlander..!
How about an update of your awesome photo realistic stuff, or some great cartoon concepts? It's been awhile, for me too, but hey. .busy life.
I must say your later environment studies have improved a lot over previous ones, color and light wise. . which is very difficult stuff indeed.
Laterzz!

Hi,
You have a real talent for rendering images from photos! I really like your character designs too and since the beginning of this SB your renderings of those, placing them in scenes with color, has improved a lot and definitely become much more sophisticated.
Kudos on "Cute but deadly"!
