1st - Einen, with the cutest Stego ever, wonderful expression, lighting and texture.
2nd - ScaryPotato, with the second cutest Stego =) I know this challenge is about the animal, but I just LOVE the background.
3rd - Paweu, mainly because of the crazy perspective and how well it works with the Diplo's expression, almost as if he's saying, "I'm, like, SO much higher than y'all".
Other favorites of mine are daveneale's and Sawa's, and I like the crazy under-the-influence look of grenogs' Dipl-O-docus.

Hi mumi,
I'm afraid your entry was submitted too late. Thanks so much for taking part, but I'm afraid we'll be unable to vote for it due to its late entry - I'm very sorry.:(
Please don't forget to try your hand, or Wacom, at the Carnivore Dino comp which is currently running here in the CA forums: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=109633

Here are my votes:
1st - Einen...The lighting and colours blow me away!
2nd - Chate Noire...I really like the ho-hum feeling of the whole piece, and the smoothness of the colouring stands out for me too.
3rd - grenogs...The super-saturated colours are awesome, your guy reminds me of a kids toy with his pose and out of this world colour scheme.
Okay, so I am about two days late writing up this stuff, better late than never though, right?!
grenogs - Zany pattern and wild colours. My first thought is it would look great in a kid's story book. Anatomy is stiff, but it makes it look like a toy, and I like the effect.
sawa - I can't remember the name of your guy, but he looks like a very old and worn out on for sure! Overall it's very good, but I'd like it more if there was more texture on his skin.
Lindbar - Another head-butter! I like the interaction between him and the border, the pose could be pushed a bit further though. Having the foot not face us directly would help it read a little better, but a nice character nonetheless:)
gnahz - I think you could do a few little things on yours to spruce him up - he seems a bit out of it now! His body needs somekind of texture or patterns, and his eyes would really liven up with a more lively expression. Those plates on his back look like flower petals to me, but it is kind of nice that way actually.
daveneale - Textures are lovely, and the pose is very unique/cool. His face though might be a bit too unique, bordering on Picasso! I do really love the style, but the extreme stylized head doesn't seem a perfect fit for the more standard looking body.
Baron von Badan - Your bucktooth iguanodon is a good friendly concept, but is too sketchy in my opinion. A little more time fleshing out the anatomy would help this eager dino out!
chennai creature - I really like how you paint, but it's tough getting an immediate sense of the type of dino you have there...you seem to have a thing for really big teeth, heheh! If you tried over-exaggerating the most distinct features of a particular animal it will have an instant improvement I think.
Nightblue - Very nice take on a modern day dino! I don't particularly like how it is SO cow-y, but the textures and especially the look to the eyes are wonderful!
chate noire - I just noticed the fine texturing on your dino as I write this up! Very subtle work there...the dreary and sad mood is captured well, and I lve how you put your colours together. I'd like to have seen him tied into the background a bit more (that part looks unfinished?), and his back foot looks a bit twisted compared to his knee, but your clean style is very appealing to the eye!
Kawin p. - Good playfulness in your entry, he doesn't look scared of the bug so much as happy to be playing with it. You should erase a bit of the line closing his tail off from his butt at the top to make it look attached to his body. The style is nice and cartoony, try breaking body shapes down separately (spheres, cylinders, cones etc) rather than drawing the outline of the guy. With practice it will help out quite a bit:)
Paweu - Your pieces are getting better and better! Very polished dino, with nice textures and veins....woul like more facial expression in him, but still, each of your drawings is better than the last!
Einen - What can I say? This takes the cake for me. Wonderful colours and lighting...such a nice expression! A happy stego is a good stego. I just wonder what he's supposed to be looking at ;)
It's too bad there weren't more entries, there were a lot of sketches earlier on that I was hoping to see put up finished in here. A good round this month though...now I'll see you all in the carnivorous dino contest!

My votes:
1st - Einen
2nd - Chate Noire
3rd - daveneale
And some comments:
ScaryPotato - Great picture, the background is incredible. The only complaint with your stegosaurus is that his texture seems a little blurry and he looks a bit like he was cut out and pasted here. But overall the picture is amazing!
grenogs - Very dreamy :) The colors hurt my eyes a little ;) I love the details, like the green reflecting on the bottom of your dino (I think you could add a little of that to the feet). Very nice job with the sky!
Sawa - Nice textures and lighting, I especially love the eye! Great job with the line thickness. There is only a little problem with the tail - the texture looks great but the perspective is off a bit and the light is reflecting on the wrong side.
Linbar - Hahaha, very funny! Nice painting, I like how you handled the skin. The right foot could be a little bigger - it seems smaller than the left, and with the shadow it's casting on the body the whole leg seems too short.
gnazh - Nice picture, very cheerful colors. Your dino has a lot of personality, always makes me smile :)
daveneale - The quality of your pictures is always superb and this one is no different! You always take the stylization to the extremes, but this time it works really well - although his head is a little disturbing :) But he's so cute in that pose, and the lighting and texture are simply amazing. And the footprints add a great touch. You're always very inspiring!
Baron von Badan - Nice paintery look and nice job with the lighting, it adds depth to the picture. You could try to make the colour of the background a little different to make your guy stand out more and spend some more time working on his anatomy.
chennai creature - nice and funny picture. You could use some blacks or more contrast in the foreground, because it looks a little washed-out. But great entry!
Nightblue - very impressive painting, and great idea :) Too bad we only vote for three pictures.
Chate Noire - beautiful dino! I love the colors and the cartoonish style, but most of all the expression and the pose. Incredible!
Kawin P. - funny one! Nice facial expression. You could define the lines more, add some thickness in the shades. Great job with the roach :)
Einen - The best picture this month. Period.
Hopsy, mumi - Too bad you guys didn't make it on time. Especially Hopsy, definitely voting material you've got there. And mumi - it's always nice to have some vectors around here :)
