I hope this is the right place for this...
I'm a graphic design freshman, and I'm going to need to invest in a good printer for school, one that can print up to at least 13x17 size papers. I was wondering if anyone has some recommendations for me? I know very little about printers, I'm afraid. :[ Thanks in advance.

I've always been partial to Eposn printers just because of their micro piezo print heads. They seem to lay down a smoother finer mist of ink it seems.
I've had years of great service with my multitude of Epson printers with the exception of my first Epson printer. I made the mistake of buying cheap imitation inks to which my Mac tech told me would gum up the heads if left alone for a stretch. I took a two week vacation came back and the machine was toast. :dur:
I've also been told my my before mentioned Mac tech that it's also advisable to buy the same brand of printer as you did for your scanner for the closest color calibrations as well.
I also look at my school's Photography department where they print up a multitude of high end prints for their finished product and they also seem to be using Epson printers as well, albeit very high end ones. If it's good enough for discerning photographers, it must be pretty decent for illustrators and graphic designers!

at my work i use a hp deskjet 1220c.
it is good up to 13x19 prints.
idk what the price is on these things but it does us well here. (although there are times where it spots something or gets the color off and i want to trash the thing office space style lol) but its real old.
i have always liked epson stuff so im gonna go ahead and second Dave.
