Well, I got to a point where I didn't want to push it any further for fear of going too far. However, here it is - DONE.
I fixed out a few tad bits and had to lighten it up after deciding it was too dark. The Jpeg compression may have lightened it up a bit more than I wanted. This has been a good little challenge where I did and didn't expect, but..

To answer the last question from the WIP thread, I used Painter 7, and Photoshop 7. As for brushes, just some cover method brushes, and blenders.
the darker version I have here (http://www.tonikoro.com/digibon/bay_12_complete.jpg). -Like two parts of an extreme I should think.

Hey koro, nice job!!
The coloring is nicely done, the contrast is also good. Most of the pic is blue and then the red really takes your eye to the monster.
Cool

This is good stuff. I like the darker color version better as well. The illo without the color is really nice too. Clean.

Thanks to all for crits and comments on this one. I tried to move on a different approach than usual a bit with the colors, and challenge myself a bit..
-Thanks for taking part of it with me :D
Loga
Thanks alot! :D
Catterpillar
thanks :D
-However, what is "Half-life"?
Mr. Personality
thanks, I think it's a toss between the two but the lighter sits on me a bit better for a few reasons, but kills the dark mood a bit.
Complete2
Thanks for the crit.
-However, I am left to ask a bit further "where" in the colors you have a conflict with? -can you expound on your crit a bit further?
MetalWInds
Thanks, I feel the same at a certain level:D
Remdial
Thank you.
I'm sure the prospective maybe a bit exaggerated, but I wanted only the representaion of depth. really had aimed to convey that a bit more in the color.
Dresden
thanks,
I'm glad you caught that. wasn't sure I had that area nail as I wanted.

That drawing is so tight it makes me wanna cry, Uberness, then again I think all your drawings are uber.
However, im gonna admit, im not digging the color job at all. Its got every color in the rain bow and lacks a consistent sense of atmosphere. The lights dont seem to be mixing right. It could be me, im a total sticker for minimal color schemes.

I really like the drawing, but the colored version irks me. It's just the chicks outfit has so many little smidgets of color here and there, same with the gun. It makes her outfit look very busy, more so than the lineart. I admit, I do like the darker version better because it hides the colors in her outfit. I hope I made sense on this :o

this is a good piece....I'm just wondering what the actual dimensions are of the pencil drawing?

i really like this piece! love the drawing and i like the color. you have been influenced by bengal and what a great influence!
her hand on the gun is a little big and the fingers spread too far and too evenly.

Looking good. I've seen some artists separate different rooms (foreground/background) by using warms/cools or dark/light. Perhaps you could use that effect a bit more. I think the lightning at the monster area now is a bit too... unmysterious, and it sorta melts together with the other details. Often it's necessary to sacrifice... valuedepth to make the general readability of the picture work. I'm no authority on that though as I hardly ever do enviroments, and when I do I fail miserably!
I anyhow, for my own entertainment I tried to separate the planes (I think it's called that). Just a few strokes and curves. Dark - Light - Dark. I'm not sure if it's working but you might wanna try something like it.

I recall seeing a page somewhere about composition that listed all 12 (?) possible combinations of light. Anyone know where to find it?

-Quite honored am I, you are the second person to have given this the once over, and I like it. It answers another angle of study to what Nivbed had to say to the pic. Thankyou!:chug:
Foster
-thanks :D
-Yes, but to a degree. I don't think I followed his sense of stroke. I was more impressed by the palette of colors he uses to achieve certain aspects in his colorwork.

Thanks, I drew this on 2/3 of a sheet of A4 sized copier paper. Roughly 19x20 centimeters
