I know that it's mentioned in the "Orange Box" thread but I feel this gem deserves a thread of its own!

Honestly, that's some of the most incredible gameplay I've ever witnessed. Absolutely creative and mold breaking! I hope they do an individual release of this as I am not that big of a fan of Half Life or Team Fortress. I think this game deserves to have its own release!

This game is off the hook. The great single player aside, the advanced and challenge levels are crazy, and some of the solutions to the least portals problems are just insane. This is truly an inventive game, and everyone who gives two craps about innovation in the computer games industry should play it asap.

i think there may be a strong possibility that in teh future that half-life 3 will have gameplay alot like whats in the game portal. after all portal might be a prototype demonstration for that. if that is true, than half-life 3 will be absouley awesome, using both a gravity gun and a portal gun, maybe more.
just send your enemies through a portal that leads them to their death. imagine the possibilites of how it could be utilized.

Amazing gameplay. It is very addictive. I love the computer and all the crazy stuff she says. The ending was amazing. I never saw it coming. For as short as it was and being a single player game it has a lot of replay value and is a great experience.

Holy crap, that looks amazing. Some fine day in the far future when I have extra time, I'll play it.

exactly, so that's what i'm anticipating. ep3 utilizing that or a whole new half-life series. OR i geuss valve is just going to stick with making episodic content.

Portal is amazing. I bought Orange Box expecting to enjoy it, not realizing I would spend way more time playing it than TF2 or Episodes 1 and 2, which are all great as well. I beat the advanced chambers no problem, but I can't finish all the challenges. I'm almost done with basic and more than half way done with advanced, but I've only cleared a few on Aperture Science. Its nuts.

Wow, Portal is just damn elegant. They managed to tell a solid story with just a few lines of dialogue and just a handful of props, and the game-play was as pure as an old Commodore-64 game - nothing extraneous whatsoever. Having spent the last seven years working on games that are littered with content added in the hope that throwing more art at a problem will solve it, I am in awe of this perfect little gem of a game.

I’m also a little batty at the moment because staying up late playing Portal caused me to have insomnia, and alllll night I had the cake song thundering my head. . .

[portal] The cake is so delicious and moist!

That's a link to a 2D flash based version... so you can play something similar even on crappy computers!

Seedling, we must have the same taste in video games. Aside from an epic storytelling RPG (and only when done well) I really like my games simple.

Never in my life was I amazed by the story of a game as in this case. Appart from the outstanding game mechanics, this is storytelling in it's finest.
Play the game just for the sake of it's final.
