I got three weeks before classes start back.. Time for my vacation dump! ... I try to expand my skills every vacation break... should be fun.. and I won't crowd up the Sketches section anymore..

wow, awesome sketches throughout this thread! As for the new character, great idea.. the only thing that I might suggest is that in a few of the sketches (mainly the middle and top left) the torso looks a bit small for the rest of the body. Other than that, beautiful work! I love the perspective on the environment :)

You've got a great thread going. Your Golem is great, and your ref sketches are coming out pretty nice as well.

What sticks out to me about your fzero design is that it doesnt seem to have much of a bottom? Just like a huge cockpit, but no base to it. I could be wrong, but thats what I first thought of it.

Your char. sketch looks nice. Gasmask really likes your stuff.:)

I love how your steppin out of the box and doing stuff you dont normally do, man i can keep up with you, haha but ill try once i get a new host, anyways i love the ref. sketches and i cant wait to see your charcter taken further, good ideas goin here

love that Golem and enviroment sketch,just the legs and arms on the Golem i dont like..Id recommend practising more human characters as i can sence your not comfortable drawing them...If your using a ref,dont draw exactly from the ref but draw a original character in that same pose and apply shadows from that ref onto yours,..thats something that help me..

hehe no it's not gasmask, my buddy Rhyan is doin' an animation of a boy confronting a tank.. so .. I'm seeing what life I can breath into the little dude.. gasmasks are hard to do 'cause they're so overly done..

I just use like a 50 marker to fill in shadows.. really quick.. so it doesn't wast 'em much..

the only thing is the eyes on that last drawing. it seems out-of-sync with the rest of the picture. try making the colour of the eyes more close to the blues with the rest of the picture.

Sammy, Great ships! I already see you tackling more human designs which definately should be getting on par with your mechanical works. I notice some of the nose extend far to low which kind of makes some of the faces a little long.

Did you have a specific one in mind here? Looks sorta like a cross between an oviraptor and some sort of chubby dromeosaur.

Sketch: Thumbnails are the most funest things in the world, just limit yourself to one pen and go to town, try not to allow yourself more than 5 min... eventually you'll get a shotgun wedding between speed and striaght lines.

endregan: it helps to lose yourself in the detail. First off you wanna do thumbnails so you can pick a good design that'll hold your interest, creat some basic blocking with light marker/blue pencil/whatever, and then go to town. If you're having problems with mechanics and such just go find some machinery pictures to get goin'

Hey Sammy, quick question: the white highlights you used on those sails, what tool did you use for that? it looks like white marker, but I since I've never seen such a marker, I thought I'd just check before I start asking dumb questions in my local artshop...LOL

Also, the vehicle designs you do (the thumbs), u use a pencil first, or inmediately sketch everthing out with pen?
