Thank you for these, espescially the third video giving some really nice shots from inside the cockpit.
It's amazing the amount of technology and work that goes into some of todays machines that gives them the ability to do what they do best, and it would be incredible to get to study the latest of such machines in person to see how they really tick.

Glad you like them :).
This job along with being an astronaut must be one of the best in the world. A part from the killing part, the things you see, feel, and do are just amazing. I would love to be a pilot or astronaut :)
Did you notice the little joke about the Do the Evolution clip in the first video ^^ ?

I have to tell you that you're not going to find much more demanding flying than low-level formation work. And you also have zero time to use much of the technology that goes into modern tactical aircraft (with the notable exception of the radio altimeter).
But these altitudes allow for very little error on the part of the pilots or maintainers and the mishap rates of many air forces that allow this tell the tale.
It makes for great video, though. Absolutely balls.

No matter how you cut it, the FB-111 was the worlds premier low level strike aircraft for many, many years. Flying at over Mach 2.5+ using terrain following RADAR they were capable of delivering a nuclear payload, or dumb bomb payload on target before detected by the enemy and rightly deserved the alternate nickname "Whispering Death". You couldn't hear them coming, but you knew once they had passed based on the deafening roar of supersonic engines. My dad was a RADAR Navigator in the FB for nearly 10 years and had well over 5,000 flight hours. There isn't a single aircraft in service today that could even hold a candle to the retired 'vark squadrons who were notorious for flying just above tree tops at mach.

The hardest thing to do in aviation. I couldn't find a decent night carrier trap video so here's a day time landing pilots POV from an FA-18 Hornet.

@egerie: amazing landscapes and video ! Aviation is really the way to see amazing things ! Check out the Tchad video I posted in my last post, it's the same but in deserting regions, between huges rocks and canyons and of course very fast and low :).
@undertow: yeah that must be pretty tricky ! And I can imagine the Gs you get to feel in your neck ! In one of the videos on the first post there is a moment where you see the face of a pilot without his sunglasses and you can almost see his eyes moving forward lol, like if he was taking a huge sh*t lol :D

You know, strangely enough, you feel it far more in your shoulders when you jerk up against the locked harness. Your neck just kind of freezes.

Did you have the chance to fly in a fighting jet? Must be incredible! I wonder if civialians can fly on those (with lessons and stuff like that) ^^

This may make me sound like an ass (it's OK, I'm used to it), but I have over 400 traps (A-6's and F/A-18's, and yeah, it was even better than you think). And while we used to fly senator's sons and the like, it's really now just a seldom media personality. There was way too much bad press when a family member/prominent person died of dirt poisoning.

In the interest of this thread, does anyone else play Ace Combat 6? It's not very realistic as there's no GLOC and a seemingly limitless amount of weapons however, the graphics are incredible and the play control isn't too bad for non-sim.
