Hi guys, I'm Jess, one of CA's many admins, I'm also lead texture artist at Massive Black, and will be traveling to Seattle from Bangkok Thailand. Hey if you want people to recognize you, add some pics. :) Get to know yer neighbor... or roomie.
It's monsoon season in Thailand. Here's me, under shelter as the flash flood begins, little do I know....

Jason took this pic, as we were running through the sidewalk getting covered in roaches and centipedes who were trying not to drown by using us as a raft.... The locals were standing under cover pointing and laughing at us as we (ok, maybe just me) screamed hysterically hoping in circles swatting crawlies off...

And finally, here's a photo of me taking photos of the grass for my texture library, with my dog Monster. :bashful:

I'm traveling to meet fellow designers mostly. I'm working extremely hard after work and weekends in order to land a job illustrating all day long. I hope this workshop can help me to get an idea where to start to get to the illustration / concept art business. This is my first CA workshop and I hope, really hope to meet awesome people that might help me get better and of course give something back to whoever needs advice. I would like to be the crappiest designer on the floor those 4 days just to be able to learn from everybody.

Howdy Howdy Howdy, Insomania was the first CA workshop I went to and I vowed I would attend one a year from then on...luckily the next one was in my home town! I am currently doing freelance on the side as I work in the hospital maintenance field full time. I want to switch to doing Art full time in the next year so this will be a big kick off for that dream. I also attended AIS. You'll be able to recognize me by my bag...but I won't be bringing my youngest daughter along! Can't wait to see everyone!

Montreal was a very beneficial experience for me. That trip ultimately helped guide the direction of my art. My name's Eric and I'm a concept artist out at Raven Software. Hello. I am Nils Larsen from Auburn, AL. 23 yrs. old. Been working as a tattoo artist at the newest shop in town, and i've recently reached a noticeable level of comfort in my work since i began learning the ropes two years ago. we're still pulling it together and building our clientele after some bumps in the road. But as i'm in a college town the business lull from november to december is crippling when you have to be in the same place for nine hours every day.
This will be the first CA/MB workshop I've attended, and the first vacation i will have taken in two years and I'm so excited to attend this workshop and learn alongside all of you from the best in the biz. Concept art fundamentally encompasses all art in some form or fashion and whatever fields of art i pursue i'm certain will benefit from this experience. Hope to make this a yearly thing. Good Idea on the name tag/avatar idea. I was thinkin about doing the same thing myself, because I too am horrible keeping rl and screennames straight..
Hear that folks?
Make yourself a nametag with a decent sized picture of your avatar to help retain those names of the awesome friendships we're all about to make.

Not to split hairs, but isnt the avatar attached to the person the most key element? Was in my mind...Plus might help to know where/what country that person is from..
Yer layout is more preferrable though...
The thought of wearing a nametag makes me cringe on a gut level but I think it worth it to retain peoples names.

I think this will definitely be a good idea. I'm relatively new to the forum, but this will surely help me remember, or even recognize those that I shall run into at the workshop.
I shall have to copy this and make me own now :D
OH, and perhaps adding one's email address if they don't mind may be a good idea as well? *thumbs up*

Not to split hairs, but isnt the avatar attached to the person the most key element? Was in my mind...Plus might not help to know where/what country that person is from..
Yer layout is more preferrable though...
The thought of wearing a nametag makes me cringe on a gut level but I think it worth it to retain peoples names.
it is yes,but some people (like me) change their avatars rather often in comparison :)
and i was thinking forum name, not real name ;)
pst, danman, email's something for your business card ;)

lol, ok....lets take a second to reassess:
Purpose of said tag: Name/personality retention.
I think it's ok if a person is into the idea, they make their own with whatever information or pictures they see fit.
Afterall we're all artists man, there's by very nature, gonna be as many different opinions on how to accomplish this as participants....:)
Not slaggin you Carnifex in the least...this is seriously funny.
Cheers all.

solution - masking tape with nickname. nothing fancy, you want alot of people to do it, and not everyone will make a badge thing.

Hello, my name is Sarah Markley. I've been on these boards for a few years, and went to a workshop in San Fran a couple of years back. I haven't been active around here lately, not as much as I want to be, but I certainly will be now!
I started over with my art education and I'm now a year and a half through Digipen's BFA degree. Concept art is my aim, though, not animation. ;)
The workshop is in my hometown, so I'm waiting to see what Jason says about whether I can get the discount today or not. I can't wait to see all of you there!

My name is Rick and I'm currently in my 2nd semester at the Academy of Art in SF, CA studying Illustration. I took a hiatus from drawing from 7th grade - college, ended up with a Biology degree from Berkeley, then decided to actually pursue what I want to do. This will be my first workshop ever and am totally uber-excited to be there.
Hopefully I'll be able to gain some focus as to what exactly in art I'd like to do, as although concept art is something that really interests me, I'm also really into crafting, acting, slam poetry, and writing, so creatively I'm all over the place.
If anything, I look forward to meeting tons of cool people and picking up anything I can from all you talented uber-artists that are going to be there :)

It's very close to it. I do know for sure that it's worse than Portland. So, when it's slightly overcast in Portland, it's totally GREY in Seattle.
When it's raining in Portland, it's a thunderstorm in Seattle - hehe. Something like that.

Hey folks, my name is Ryan Bullock and this will be the 3rd workshop I've attended (Austin and San Fran being the previous ones). I'm uber excited about this since I live about 2 miles from the workshop and work about a mile away in Pioneer Square. If anyone has questions about Seattle, feel free to PM me.
It's been quite a long time since I've posted here and hopefully that will change. I hope everyone is ready for a killer time. :xpld:

Surely it cant be worse than england? can it?
I've actually never been to Seattle or England. I just know that Seattle is often called 'the rain capital of the world'. But after doing some research this appears to be a misnomer. It doesn't rain anymore in Seattle than in Washington DC! Pffft! Apparently it just looks like its gonna rain all the time, almost always cloudy/overcast. I've read the weather is really unpredictable though. I think I'll keep a small umbrella in my backpack for walks to and from Days Inn.

Hey guys. Donovan here. I'm 28 and coming down from Anchorage Alaska. Drawing has been a passion of mine since about birth but not what I do for work unfortunately. Right now I do the whole computer programming / admin thing. Not very glam but it gets the bills paid :confident
The first two are from my stay in Vegas with some Family. Went to the Grand Canyon. Man that was cool. The last one is a pic of what is basically in my back yard. Just a little snippet of whats in Alaska.
Hi to JoJoMonster. Looks like were roomies. :} Hope to see Horror and our fourth post some pics / info too.
See you guys in Jan.

Hello, my name is Matt and am studying illustration at Ringling. I have been to the two workshops in SF and can't wait for Seattle. It sucks when someone asks what you go by on the forum and you have to say "dot p z dot." It's not very catchy.

This is my 2nd workshop... my first was the very sweaty Austin workshop, where even 8 AC window-units crammed underneath the garage door couldn't cut through the Texas summer heat. Hey friends, my name's George, and I'm a 22-year-old who just graduated from the Evergreen State College. I'm a Seattle resident, and to my immense delight, Revelations is coming right to my doorstep as a late Christmas gift (w00t)! I'm looking forward to meeting all of you dedicated souls who are traveling great distances to be here.
I'm currently working on an animated music video for an album that my friend and I are about to release (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=283778525&MyToken=5b974209-a77f-4d0f-95a0-ce8c34617c98), I'm stoked to show it to you all in January! I hope to get a job as an illustrator for a Seattle game studio soon, but my primary aspiration is to be a full-time comic artist and writer. I love concept art, but I've come to think that the majority of games these days are mindlessly violent escapist consumer distractions. US culture is saturated with titillating entertainment media, and it keeps us pacified while corrupt corporate interests ravage the planet and cause untold human suffering. I've developed a fiery passion to use digital art as a means of spreading viral messages about waking up from consumer zombification and the need to struggle for genuine Democracy.
My portfolio site is www.viradical.com. If you like comics, please check out the free ones I have in there! "Fourth Front" is about media control and the military industrial complex, while "Hollowgram" is about a digital artist in a sci-fi near future who undergoes a mental shift with regards to her art career (I'm especially interested in showing that one to fellow artists here). Let me know what you think!

I will be there, though I have been mostly absent of the boards this semester because of my time at RMCAD. I am updating my sketchbook now so check it out, full of updated stuff.
OH and my name is Phil, I am 20 years old, studying illustration at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design so obviously I will be coming from Colorado.
I cannot possibly type out how stoked I am to be attending this event. I really look forward to meeting everyone!

Hello. My name is Ryder. I have been drawing since the age of two. In 2002, I decided I would like to learn how to model in 3-D. In 2005, I joined CA and wanted to learn how to colour my drawings digitally. In 2008, I want to explore traditional painting and delve further into life drawing and study. Other than art, I am interested in snowboarding, travel, and sharing ideas.
I look forward to all of the sage advice and creative energy that's going to be present at Revelations!

Wow, I forgot a picture!
Well, here's one from the one day we got really great packing snow and built a snowman. I'm the girl. :) Also, I now have red-orange racing stripe-like streaks in my hair.
