The Turner Prize - Tate Liverpool 2007

I will be posting about the four shortlisted "artists" over the next couple of days Mark Wallinger, Mike Nelson, Zarina Bhimji and Nathan Coley starting with Mark Wallinger. I would be interested to see people's reactions in the controversial prize.

I usually watch and get annoyed by Matthew Collings talking out of his ass. I just took a quick look at the short listed on the guardian website, and although there isn't a huge amount of background on the stuff, I have to say, predictably, I'm pretty unmoved and apathetic to the standard that seems to have been kept....that "protest installation" looks particularly unimaginative, even by Turner standards, I wonder what JMW would have thought of it all.

I quite agree with you. I am posting all 4 of the shortlist but out of all I just don't get it, and these guys end up getting paid millions for their works, you might as well just shit on a piece of canvas and say hey this is art.

So here is the next on the shortlist, so annoying, some of his installations look like an apartment after a bad party :upset:

I’m looking for Mike Nelson’s studio, but instead blunder through a plastic curtain into a space full of Hazchem warnings on plastic containers. I did some research on Nathan Coley, shortlisted for this years Turner Prize, but couldn’t find very much about him except long lists of where he has had exhibitions.... http://pollocksthebollocks.wordpress.com/
