So I'm trying to improve my drawing, and this is a good way to keep a weekly reference on my improvements and allow me to gain feedback and knowledge from experienced artists, so please leave some C & C, thank you very much.

Good job! You've captured the gesture in some of these. These would make nice references as well. My suggestion would be to keep a lean eye on proportions and alignments. Keep it up.

yes a few have a nice flow.
Watch out with concave curves. The normal body has none, ever!
What appears as a concave curve is always a series of convex forms arranged
on a concave curve.
Think of the body as full. With energy and fullness coming from the inside and
expanding outwards.
When you are shading. Don't shade with the form ! Shade with the light.
Meaning don't follow or drag your shadows with the form but notice how the
light cuts across it. Light rays allways travel straight. A form that enters in the
light cuts into the rays.
Good luck

Thank you for your critique, you're very wise with this subject. But I'm fairly new the studies of life drawing, can you please explain what you mean by concave curve and what you're saying I should study the light. I'm a big confused.
Please, if you have time, show me what you mean, maybe you can take one of my drawings and point out what you're trying to say. I'm sorry, my English isn't very strong. If you can help me, I'll be very grateful because I want to learn how to improve my drawing abilities. Thank you very much.

Hi,
No worries man. We are all hear to learn!! :)
Convex means outwardly rounded - full , alive forms, amplitude
Concave means inwardly rounded - like when you scoop out ice cream. On the figure it looks unreal, inorganic, not alive.
When I say rounded , note that I don't mean round as in like a sphere!

On the issue of the light there are good books that go into detail about this. One being Ted Jacobs book for example although that one might be hard to get a hold of. Tony Ryder's book is nice as well.
Hmm maybe I should do a demo in the future about light.
Good luck !

The crit I would give on these is that you seem to have this sort of thing "under control", meaning the proportions are good and there's a sense of gesture to them. I would supplement this kind of study with a heavy dose of longer studies and "finished" pieces. I don't really paint like that anymore, but I went through the whole sight size, cast drawing and 12 week figure drawing poses and it actually tranlates back to quick sketch like this pretty quickly. Head drawing is key too. Have a look at some of the work that Eric Gist does on these forums. He has a great handle on the structure of the head and would be a good person to copy from.

Thanks art,
I think I understand what you're saying. Now i just have to pay more attention on my line making. Thanks a lot.
Britton, thank you for your input. I'll try some longer poses. I looked up Eric Gist's life drawing tutorial, it's amazing and very helpful, thank you.

Confusion is a sign of growth . Just keep drawing, you're doing fine.

Oooh, is that Bruce further up the page? When does he ever model?? D:
I like your bold, simple lines on the chubby chick (what's her name again?; ) in the last post. Her breasts look great, really natural. Her expression in the one on the left is AWESOME.

I think that one way you can try to improve is to try a different style.
One time when we were drawing on Saturday I glanced at the way you drew and I tried to use that style. And I liked it.
The girl on the upper right in your newest image... she's very pretty ;) i like her shirt too ;)
