Alright folks, here is the deal. We have worked to negotiate a good package of deals for people to choose from during their stay in Seattle. Please see below.
The Days Inn and the 6th Ave. Inn below will allow FOUR to a room. This makes the stays affordable for those in need. Check out the Roomates Thread to get that set up. There will be many who want to save money by staying four to a room.

$99/ night for a single or double room
$20 extra for a rollaway bed, 2 full beds cannot fit
You will be able to book online shortly. I will provide the links as soon as they are sent over to us.
We found the hostels to be unreasonable for us to deal with. However, those of you who wish to stay in the hostels can research them and find something close to the Bell Harbor Convention Center. We recommend the hotels above, however. Hostels were 25-60 dollars a night so the deals we reserved at the hotels can offer cost savings instead.
Book early if you can. These spots may fill up. You can check with the hotels as time goes on to see how many spots are left.

****Hey! Check out this Google Map with logo locations! (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&om=1&layer=t&msa=0&msid=104674111113417617321.00043f043bdbad60dba0c&ll=47.61464,-122.342248&spn=0.013568,0.029182&z=15)Makes visualizing the area EASY! Courtesy of Burtzum (Thanks!)****
The closest hostel is Green Tortoise Hostel, though the hotel options Jason listed above might actually be cheaper, and possibly more secure, with 4 to a room than the hostel. (Plus who can complain about sharing a bathroom with 3 people instead of 10?)

Agreed the walk will be nice..
.coming from a NW vet, dress warm folks, January in the northwest is gonna be a cold one for sure. The venue is on the water so it's as cold as it'll get.

For anyone that went to the San Francisco Workshop, the hotels on 6th ave aren't any further walk than San Fran, they might even been shorter. The street numbering works from first ave (by the waterfront) out to 6th ave (further away). But really no walking downtown is too bad, just the occasional hill :).
Depending on how late the workshops run tho I might sugegst travaling in groups late in the evening. Not that there is a big crime problem but it is a major city after dark.....

I have to say given the unpredictable nature of the weather in the Northwest these last couple of years - it could be anywhere from 20 to even 60-degrees those days.
Last year, during Insomania a huge storm hit the NW. It caused us to lose power for five days, beginning on the 14th. It was around 20-degrees during those days and by January, you'd never know it was winter.
And by the end of January/beginning of Febuary, it was sunny...and rather warm. Crazy.

I can say this much...staying in the hotels we negotiated with will keep you all together and most people regret not staying with the groups as so much crazy stuff is going on even after the party...art art and more art...and a ton of fun too. no one wants to go walk two miles in the middle of the night to some other hotel where no one else is staying...well almost no one. the agoraphobics might be glad for that. :)

Im currently booked at edgewater just curious if I'm one of the few. where is the majority of everyone else staying at?

AS far as I know, it seems as though the majority of people are staying at the hotels that were suggested by Jason, like the Days Inn.
Personally, I'm leaning towards that as well, since I'm sure friendships will be made and staying together, even after the workshops, to keep the creativity flowing is a big part of the get together to begin with :D
That's my take on it anyhoo :P
