Ok here's the deal. I'm just beginning with oils. Apart from my own limited palette studies I do an oil class. Using double primary palette.

Cadmium Yelllow
Lemon Yellow
Cadmium Red
Alizarin Crimson
Ultramarine Blue
Coerulium Blue
Phtalo Blue
Titanium White

Anyway I've been asked to do a master copy.

Now as much as I would have liked to do a copy of Sargent's "Lady Agnew". I think this may be a little ambitious. Am I right in thinking this or am I mistaken? I would like to hear peoples thoughts on this.

If that is the case then maybe Ilya Repin's Apples and Leaves would be a better choice. Again I would like to hear peoples thought's on this too.

I have some images of Lady Agnew, But nothing Hi res. Now I've checked the web but there isn't much above the 294KB JPEG I have. If someone has a higher res copy than this, then may I please have a copy.

The same goes for Apples and Leaves. I have a high res image from wiki 2024*1724 115KB JPEG. But this seems really dark compared to all the other images of the same painting. Is it dark? Or not? Has anybody got a higher res better copy. If so, again, may I please have a copy.

Thanks for your indulgence. Cheers Phil

Phil,
I took a look at the work that you have posted and based on that, plus the fact that you are just beginning in oils, my suggestion is to go with Apples and Leaves as Lady Agnew is a bit to agressive and my be daunting for you at this time. There is alot of fabric in Agnew that may throw you off. This version seems ok, so if the one you have is close, feel free to go with that.
