Personally having never taken one I'm not sure I can speak as an authority on this but my personal prefrerence would be to take a real class where there's some interaction between you and the other students. I think there's something to be said for education via observation.
I'm not saying that online classes can't be valuable, but as a preference I'd still settle for the brick & mortar sort of education. I also completely understand with people & their schedule conflicts, it might not always be convenient or compatible but given the expense- I think the bang for the buck would be for real instructors in a live situation.

thanks for your reply. But im in the military in charleston, sc and there arent any art schools down here for what im looking for. Also the air force pays 100% tuition. Believe me i would much rather go to an actual school but i have to take what i can get i guess. I was thinking about aionline.com. They have a game art and design degree im interested in.

Hawgca11er, if you do take an online class, please let us know how it goes. :) I think online classes have great potential, but I know very little about them, and I would like to hear from people who have tried them.
