gladiator sketch

Just trying to keep myself going and posting often helps.

This is a character concept or actually more of a costume concept for a direct to DVD movie project I was working on a year or so ago that got canned.

My art progresses rapidly at times and I like to keep my stuff up to date...so I took the original sketch and did some retouches to it..I like this version a lot better...

This is pretty cool, and its still kinda sketchy, which I like that, but I think its lacking the essential elements that make him a gladiator.

1.Armor(sp?)
2.Helmet
3.Weapon

Here is wes9000's artwork (http://www.stormpages.com/wes9000/conceptart.html) and I think he does an excellent job on his gladiators, and barbarians. He is a great inspiration that will most definetely help you out.

I'm with I.was.ink, it's definitely a fine drawing, it just doesn't look like a gladiator. The hair in particular looks more samurai to me.
