-Came home tired from work the other day, and didn't quite feel up to the pages I've been working on (knowing there's tons of shite i need to do), but worked this graphite to paper.

-So, I started coloring it down already, and I'm making a slight attempt at putting some Semi-Bengal influenced palette on it (Bengal I hope you don't mind).
At any rate..

UPDATE:1:44AM FRI
*Trying to add in a few areas of contrast and color slowly, bit by bit..

Update : 1:36PM FRI
slight update, getting in a few points, but the wip shot might be neither here nor there since the changes are subtle..

LOL That's beautiful! Just a groggy slop of art on the plate, huh?
Well it's a pretty nifty pic, Koro ... how long before you have your own assistant, hmm?
This pic series has single-handedly inspired me to go back to pencil and paper for a bit. Gosh... it's been SOOo long! (I'll PM you if it's a happy reunion - ha ha!)
Really solid execution of a now-classic SciFi situation.

damn, this is a cool project you have so far. Just one thing: dont lose the freshness that you have with the sketch.
Another thing, that I think makes bengals pieces bengaled style is the freshness of the strokes. A stroke he puts down stays!(seems that way...)
Keep us updated koro.

-Thanks All,
I have a few issues which I see are problems in the painting, but I'm quite glad about how the sketch turned out. I'll have to see how things turn out in the final coloring.
Still slowly adding in color, however.

Yes, you're quite right about bengal.
Althought I really only wanted to draw from his Paletter more than his stroke. I think his stokes are what make him unique to his work. -Or rather one of the stronger points in his coloring, separate from the evident drawing skill in conversation.

-haha, I don't have assistants quite yet.
I'm actually scare of letting another Ink my work, but if I was drawing for example a weekly comic, I'd have no choice. Pencil is a fine tool, but dirty. I wonder what shape I could keeo this sketch in. Should spray it down or something quite soon.
But happy for those that are inspired. :D
Best again, and thanks for the crits all :D

this is a good one! very nice indeed.
the only thing i have to say is that i don't think the creature should have so much detail. i think it would be more dramatic if it were less defined.

ok that is just sick. freaking awesome. I love the complexity of the lighting. What are you using to color? (software and brushes.)

something about the way the girl's fingers wrap around the handle seems off to me, but aside from that, this is (pardon) fucking awesome. Reminds me a little of Metroid Fusion (if Shirow was in charge of art direction), if only from a space lady, space monster, and space metal perspective :P really beautiful - i'd work a little more detail into that glowing shaft off to the bottom left, that's a great little touch down there. Really awesome so far!!
