I was wondering if there is a reason. On many other forums it seems that you just click delete to delete it, but here, even if your post is the only post, it seems like you cant delete it. Why?

They can be deleted, but only by a moderator or administrator. Also, if you are
the only one yet posting in that thread, just edit the content to something like [Delete this ]

And do the same with the title of topic. :)

Hi, I guess that's just how we have the permissions set in this forum. I didn't set things up, so I don't know very much about it.

if you see anything that you think desperatly requires for deletion send a mod or admin a pm about it or just click th report button. Also having it makes us potentially vulnerable to vandalism.

Vandalism how? You mean that people may make a bad topic then quickly delete it? I dont think that would be a problem ;) I've on many other message board websites and they all have the ability to delte a topic, and I havent seen any abuse or vandalism! Plus the people here seem serious and mature

Disgruntled long-term posters can cause havoc to a forum by deleting threads that they started. (I used to be a moderator on another forum. This wasn't a frequent problem, but when it happened it upset a lot of the forum-goers to see their posts go up in smoke.)

I think a better method would be to allow a thread to be closed so that addtional posts cant be made, but the previous posts wont be deleted and the thread will eventually fade away.

Even though a thread-starter kicks off a discussion, the thread does not belong to them, and giving them the power to disrupt the thread with anything other than words is asking for trouble.
